2. is USB 3.0 HDD compatible with 2.0?

3. This might sound stupid, I never try anything 3.0 on my laptop usb port, will USB 3.0 HDD be any faster or the same as a USB 2.0 HDD?

4. I see some people are selling casing for external HDD. I thought the casing comes together with it?

^ hi there, thank you for the replies. i never use an ext HDD before, it is just like thumbrive, plug and play right, no settings or installation required. also, is it possible to purchase anything smaller than 500 GB nowadays? my budget is somehere less than RM150
