With the events that happens a few weeks ago to cyberlockers, I may not need to buy additional HHD space.
I also hope I'm not the only one, thus impacting the demand for HDD and driving the price down again!
wat say you guys?

QUOTE(everling @ Apr 7 2012, 08:23 PM) I agree with dma0991 that there are no standout HDD manufacturers at this time. Samsung used to be remarkable, for their low cost, but has since been bought by Seagate, leaving us with only three HDD manufacturers worldwide. I'd just buy the cheapest. I missing Sansung awesome HDD! Bestest cool performance and mostest value for money! Now I looking for a bigger version of HD130SJ in 2TB 7200rpm version...any suggestion? anyone? |

QUOTE(sotong168 @ Apr 10 2012, 06:28 PM) now still can get samsung hdd? kenot lo. Thanks for the link!RMA-ed my Samsung F4 (HD204UI) to Seagate last wk, yesterday they returned me a Seagate ST2000DL004, it is a re-badge according to this site Awesome info. This drive is now called the Seagate ST2000DL004 as well as the Samsung HD204UI Samsung's F4 EcoGreen is the first drive available to feature 667GB per platter. Samsung’s F4 Series EcoGreen Drive (F4EG) is the ideal high capacity drive for green computing environments. The new eco-friendly hard drive, F4EG is designed to meet demand for high performance devices with lower power consumption. Samsung’s EcoGreen F4 makes it possible to design storage systems with the right balance of high capacity, fast performance and energy conservation. Samsung F4EG has the world’s best areal density at 5400RPM rotation speeds. High density means more bits pass under the head faster, and it improves the drive performance. Samsung employs an advanced data recording technology, which brings the next generation technology into today’s single disk platform, enabling Samsung’s new 5400RPM drives to perform at current 7200RPM drive speeds. The internal SysMark test results confirms that F4EG performs as same as 7200RPM drive speeds, and even 10% faster than other green drives. - Capacity: 2TB - Cache: 32MB - Interface: SATA-II - Spin Speed: 5400RPM - Seek Time: 8.9ms - 3.5" Drive - Warranty: 3 Years |

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Apr 21 2012, 12:26 PM) 3TB Seagate = RM539 (current price) Not too bad isn't it? Only at Viewnet! RM32 difference. To make it even sweeter, if you have a Maybank2Card AMEX, swipe during the weekend at Viewnet to get a 5% cashback. (If you haven't reached the RM50 cashback cap that is) 5% off RM539 = RM26.95 After cashback, the 3TB becomes RM512.05 The above is exactly what I'm gonna do. I specifically mentioned Viewnet since they don't charge anything extra for CC usage and they're one of the few shops that accept AMEX. This 3Tb Seagate is wat model number and 7200rpm? 64GB? |

Thanks!
I also notice the 1TB is no more in the range of RM330! Most are under RM300. |

QUOTE(mohdazuan @ Apr 25 2012, 09:42 PM) better upgrade your seagate 500GB to seagate 1TB. make sure it is single platter. major improvement on read/write speed since size increase with sector become small on the same platter size is this the samsung technology used in the HD103SJ?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(yongping @ Apr 26 2012, 05:44 PM) Thank you for your advice. What are the recommended brand for 2TB HDD nowadays since Samsung HDD division is acquired by Seagate? I'm in the same boat as you. Its been a long time since I keep up with the IT news, it used to be that Samsung was the brand to go when they had the 1TB back then. Currently I'm hoping Seagate will actually incorporate all the best of Samsung tech into their HDD but I have not yet got any firm confirmation on this. Very scare to purchase from Seagate yet after their last fiasco. |

QUOTE(mohdazuan @ May 10 2012, 09:06 AM) it is because (maybe) they want to clear old stock. 3TB model that you saw maybe based on 750GB per platter technology, means the hard drive has 4 platter. right now they already has 3TB using 3 platter where 1 platter = 1GB. it is WD green. Did think to check the model or serial number. check the serial number to know which model it is. Was actually looking for Seagate 3TB. Seagate 3TB must look for wat serial number? |
