i not quite sure la. my older experience was given me answer with hitachi

Planning to buy an external 2.5" HDD 1TB USM 3.0 for storage. Reliability and years of warranty are priority, performance is secondary.

Down to 3 choices after referring to pricelist
1. Buffalo mini station RM24x
2. Hitachi Touro Mobile RM22x
3. Western Digital MyPassport RM24x

Are these models come with 3y warranty?

Looking for suggestion, currently I considering to buy toshiba canvio slim or sony external hard disk.

So far, I do not have any experience regarding hard disk.

Anyone owned sony external hard disk ? How does its weight, does it feel heavy to carry around ? I need ultra portable and light weight since I travel around.

Warranty doesn't bother me as long as the hard disk is reliable for daily use

oh, i tried HDDScan, but the SMART button is disabled, so i guess the HDD does not support SMART. tough luck. 

Wanted to buy a new external harddisk, but why got so many different variants with the same capacity but different price from 1 manufacturer? (BTW, I want to buy from IPMart is it reliable?)

Because currently I have been using my Seagate FreeAgent GO 320GB for more than 4 years and it is still running well, just that its storage is full already, no way I am going to delete files in them

anyone know where to claim warranty for Western Digital External HDD MyPassport? I contacted Achieva they said don cover EXT HDD..

i don see any wrong here as my self using red wd just for single hhd data storage.. coz of the warranty that make me bought it..they are just built to suit enterprise/raid environment..as for normal usage i din feel any different than other HDD in my exp..

nop.. i have ssd as boot hdd... as far transfer compare to 1 tb green hdd this red much faster(3tb red nas wd).. and as wd green this wd red use less power than wd green when i open wd website spec chart.. ya.. this red hdd sleep like wd green oso.. but mush faster awake time..and less noisy when wake up.. the clicking sound is more quieter..

anyone knows any shop in lowyat got sell SAS hard disk for ML350 G5 server? heading over there later.

Was wondering anyone have any personal experience with SG Desktop SSHD 1/2TB?

Thinking of getting one.  My current HD is running out of space.

I know the speed increase cannot be compared to SSD but I need more space and at the same time would definitely would not mind a speed increase.

Yes, I'm definitely going for RAID, not just a single disk. I just wanted to get thoughts and feedback on Seagate, especially constellation users. So definitely also it won't be 1TB total as well.

re4 cost 600+ for 2TB...

I saw it in Lowyat Plaza in one of the shops a while back when only brand like Synology was around. Have not been there recently to check. Price list also don't mention it now.

Why buy WD RE4? That's more for RAID.

Buy WD Black and you still get 5 years plus cheaper at RM 450 for 2TB.
