I think Lazada is the greatest thing ever happen in Malaysia.

I bought motherboard from Hong Kong (Biostar disti Junmax). It arrived in 4 days. No warranty I think.

With regards to Lazada, no need to worry since getting Seagate products. Seagate manages their own warranty without the intervention from vendors. Should be fine for the other stuffs that you buy that doesn't spoil so easily. Otherwise have to take care of the warranty yourself.

One example of what not to buy from them -

Well, I don't think Dell know where I buy it. So many OEM seller in Lazada. They might be selling real Dell stuff with Dell warranty.

Beats me bro. I'll let Lazada sort that out with Dell.

I do like some of the stuffs they carry. Might be tempted to try one of these days... smile.gif

Terms and conditions for manufacturers warranty are clearly listed on Lazada's and Amazon's website but they have different approaches to claiming warranty.

http://www.lazada.com.my/helpcenter/produc...aq-warranty-ans

Lazada recommends that purchasers contact the warranty center themselves but they could also assist with warranty claims, which is what most Malaysian vendors do. Note there is no disclaimer for conditions that warranty can be voided.. So my next question is Dell the only manufacturer that has come forward to warn consumers about purchasing their products via Lazada or do other manufacturers also have such disclaimers? Hence have to do better research on warranty even for the purchases done via Lazada and other online retailers.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/dis...21196417&sr=1-1

For Amazon, though you will have to managed your own warranty claims for purchases made through them it may not apply in all cases, but rather depends on factors like the use of the product, where the product was purchased, or who you purchased the product from. So there is a disclaimer for warranty to be void in certain conditions.

Of course this is on top of the return policy which both Lazada and Amazon have in place.

Actually buy anywhere also its better to claim warranty on your own. If you claim warranty from shop, it'll take longer time.

so what's the best bang for buck 2TB internal harddisk at the moment?

is torn between Seagate 2TB SSHD or WD Blue/Black 2TB.

or is there anything else to recommend?
*
HDD above 2TB depends on what you will be using it for.

If looking at purely performance, then Seagate 2TB SSHD wins hands down, but if you are looking for long term reliability WD Black is a better choice - 5 years warranty. It's better to install WD Black with rubber grommets in a silent case. Some users complain about the HDD spinning noise during read/write ops.

Now a days the external HDDs has different features but if you are looking for a plain & simple 2.5" ext HDD you could go with SG's Backup Plus Slim selling around RM365. Others from Transcend offer shock-protection at higher price.

Hello all.. I just wondering which combo is better. Do share your opinion

1. Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD + 3 TB WD RED (For storage and game install)
2. Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD + 3 TB WD BLACK (For storage and game install)

If I install game in WD RED,is there any performance bottleneck or what else?

The only thing hold me back from WD BLACK is the noise but wondering is there any performance drop(loading time, not fps) in the games because the drive would only be using to storage and game install. Important programs and OS would be install in the SSD. The loading time would be far difference between wd red and wd black?

if its me, i'll go with installing all the os, apps and a few games in the ssd. then if you got any games you don't want/not playing, just uninstall and replace with a new game.

the 3tb hard disk is only for downloading/torrenting + store data and backup.

no preference on either red or black though, except i know that black is 5 years warranty and fastest among all hdd.

Alright, perhaps I should have been more specific. notworthy.gif

I don't really need a 2.5 " external HDD; I want something cheaper, like that of a 3.5" instead.

I'm not really the carrying type, just the need more space kinda person.

For 3.5" 2TB you can go for Seagate Expansion (RM290) or Backup Plus (RM300).

Oh. Is there any difference between Seagate and WD in terms of quality? How about in comparison to other brands that exist?

I know I sound foolish, it's just I'm very new to this. notworthy.gif

If only given these 2 options I would go for option #2 but it's kinda a waste to use Black for storage.

If your desktop has more HDD bays you could select option #1 and add Seagate's 3.5" SSHD for all your games installs. It runs cheaper, faster and quieter than WD Black but stock is difficult to obtain. Then you can use the Red for storage.

The real advantage for WD Black is really its robustness and 5-yrs warranty. If you have a quiet case, the read/write noise is barely audible. If you decide to go for the Black, remember to make sure your casing is well ventilated to handle the extra heat Black generates.

Note that WD Red is a 5.4k RPM HDD while Black runs at full 7.2k RPM. Not sure how large and complex game installs would run off Red. Haven't noticed performance issues with simple games and programs running off it. Where Red really shines is in the RAID 3 and above.

No worries bout asking questions, we're all here to share info and experience.

Personally I really like WD's internal HDDs, but recently they've made some design changes to their ext HDDs and now all myBooks features Initio encryption chips. So if the USB board fails, you can't get your data back unless you replace with the same USB board.

See this thread for details - https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3323695/all

I meant to ask what are these SSD/HDD hybrids that I'm hearing about?

I just want to know what they are, and might they be worth it to replace my current HDD with one of these in my laptop.
