I still trust optical media more then hard drives. If a hard drive dies you loose so much stuff. If a few discs become unreadable you lose some stuff.

Uncle Google shows the USB3 PCB board for Hitachi Touro Mobile Pro. Looks like it's a separate unit from the HDD PCB. ![]() It's listed as SKU #26196 for the HT parts no HTOLMNA5001ABB, HTOLMNA7501BBB & HTOMPNA10001BBB. There's not much info available on the capability of the USB controller but seems to have a high rate of failures from the Newegg and Amazon reviews. [/quote] thanks for sharing |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Aug 4 2015, 07:49 PM) super macgyver Do you know or a way to reduce WD Black speed to 7200rpm like the Blue ? my previous re4 500gb dun have noise after i set it quiet mode in AAM under hd tune, but new re4 1tb hdd seem like no longer support AAM control So , noise reduce , but warranty is 5 years Any firmware which can manually set hard disk rotation speed ? QUOTE(Maxieos @ Aug 8 2015, 07:39 PM) elliot_WD Thanks , guess it's more risky doing that. i use hd tune super macgyver What kind to software you use to check for bad sector ? 1TB takes so long where last time i tried 500GB takes 6-7 hours to scan . |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Sep 10 2015, 06:27 PM) i also had an issue myself. mind asking what model is ur NAS? i get warning in my nas, but after pulling out hdd and running all the tests, then pop back in rebuild raid, run block scan, long extended smart scan, file system check, no problem. but showed warning. so i consulted with IT support and apparently it's a bug :} so will be fixed in new firmware next month. some of these hdds issues, not necessarily yours, but like in raid configuration like mine, sometimes the problem could be a buggy firmware that reports incorrectly thats y i rely on these other extra software to check the hdds health when in doubt. |

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ Feb 22 2016, 10:44 AM) Hi, may I ask, what are the biggest HDDs that i can fit into a laptop (9.5mm max) even in ly, i only saw 1tb internal 2.5' hdd so farI heard that there's a Samsung Spinpoint 2TB, and also a Seagate, but i'm not sure if there are any other models. I've not been able to actually find these HDDs in Malaysia's online stores, but supposedly these 2 brands have superior specs (despite 5400RPM speeds) and better reliability. Any thoughts? QUOTE(z_c00l @ Sep 6 2016, 12:06 AM) Guys ...is it just me or the prices of hard disc just keep increasing? dun forget of due to GST worI bought a WD RED 4tb about 2 years back for rm590. Today, for the same model and capacity cost rm690. What the heck?! I thought price should drop due to Moore's law and demandsupply factor. Not increase. |
