Guys, wanna ask, how about Hitachi's Touro series?

From what I've simply googled, they are of the highest quality hard drives from HGST.....

are their hdd separated from the USB controller for ease of data retrieval should the controller fails?

Nope , I can't run HD tune , there's no smart test or heath tab is totally empty.Try other hard drive is still empty.
What could it be ?

Does doing a full disk scan check reduce the HD life time ?

i also had an issue myself.

i get warning in my nas, but after pulling out hdd and running all the tests, then pop back in rebuild raid, run block scan, long extended smart scan, file system check, no problem. but showed warning.

so i consulted with IT support and apparently it's a bug :} so will be fixed in new firmware next month.

some of these hdds issues, not necessarily yours, but like in raid configuration like mine, sometimes the problem could be a buggy firmware that reports incorrectly 

thats y i rely on these other extra software to check the hdds health when in doubt.

Hi, may I ask, what are the biggest HDDs that i can fit into a laptop (9.5mm max)

I heard that there's a Samsung Spinpoint 2TB, and also a Seagate, but i'm not sure if there are any other models.
I've not been able to actually find these HDDs in Malaysia's online stores, but supposedly these 2 brands have superior specs (despite 5400RPM speeds) and better reliability. Any thoughts?

Guys ...is it just me or the prices of hard disc just keep increasing?
I bought a WD RED 4tb about 2 years back for rm590. Today, for the same model and capacity cost rm690. What the heck?!
I thought price should drop due to Moore's law and demandsupply factor.
