Hey guys, I really need ur help. i'm planning to buy a katana online. Yap, the sword (real thing, not those that u can find in toyrus). I'm worried that the customs will confiscate it. Any ideas on how to purchase this online? Any procedures I need to follow up in order to get it. Is there anything else i need to worry besides customs?

Yeah, the customs will not tax you unless u bring it in bulk. Bulk means u bring in in large volumes. For instance, 10 boxes. 3 models isnt considered a bulk. To be precise, i think better not bring in more than 5. That's why i always purchase the max 3 items at one time.

thanks for the tip, have u ever face any problem when ordering ur models from hlj?? I'm planning to order a couple of models soon.

1.
You use money order if you need to pay for something via US Mail and dont want to use your credit card. A money order is an instrument that orders a sum of money to be paid to someone else. You pay for the order in the amount that HLJ stated, along with a fee to the establishment selling it, and sends the order to the person he wants to pay. Because the money order must be paid for in full at the time of purchase, the payee is guaranteed the money will be paid to him. A money order does not expire, so the payee can cash it at any time. Cashier's checks from a bank are much the same as a money order, but usually involve larger sums of money. Many stores have limits on how much someone can make a money order for. Cashier's checks usually involve amounts of money over $500 or $1,000. They are guaranteed by the issuing bank.

2.
Yes, they usually will do and you have the rights to open any enquiries about your package.
Chances of getting your items released from them is particularly low if they are deemed illegal in this country - so dont waste your time arguing with them unless you are sure that your items didnt go against any of their rules. I'll still have some items confiscated by the customs 2 years ago. Its a shipment of beauty products sent by my client for a photo shoot as they are not available/sold here.  The reason that they are not allowed in is they doesnt have the approval safety certificate for them and are listed as hazardous material

Thanks, anyway, just place my order at HLJ, hope to receive my goods soon thumbup.gif . Anyway planning to use money order, but is it possible since i'm from malaysia?? Will the customs contact u if they do confiscate ur items?

If this round goes smoothly, I may make a 2nd time, maybe that time u can tumpang la. Anyway if u wanna buy gundam model now, try going to this website

My experience of buying from HLJ is bad. I've waited for more than 20 days for my product to arrived. After it did arrived, the customs sent me a document and ask me to fax it back to them. After that, they send me a card asking me to collect it from a certain pos office which btw include the amount of tax I need to pay (more than a hundred). After collecting the parcel, I've found out that one of the gundam models I've ordered is damage (box). So, there u have it. I WILL never (most probably) order online again.

Anyway, I thought u guys say the parcel shouldn't be tax right.

bayaran pelepasan pos = 1.00
bayaran pengenalian agen = 30.00

i usually shop there, coz i like their fast respond. and cheap gunpla price.

the cc number is send 1 time only. and if u read carefully, they ask u to send the number in 4 parts. not send all the 16 digi in one short. so far np for me.(touch wood)

OTs,
recently i experience some bizzare incident. i ordered a recast kit from HK. and it is send using normal airmail. i waitied for around 45days to get my kit. the box is being torn open, but all the stuff is in there.

the weird thing is that the chop "Dilepaskan....date 1st-February". the date i received is 2nd-March...bloody who fault is this? Custom? KLIA ? Pos Office ???

hell...KLIA to Ipoh take 1 month to reach ???? rclxub.gif

by the time i got it, i also dunno wanna cry or laugh...just speechless...

it also depends on the declare value of the parcel too. if more then rm200, the chances of kena tax will be higher regardless of the size of the parcel.

if the size of the parcel is like MG Sazabi or MG EX-S the chance of kena tax also higher. Coz it is big n heavy. if the parcel is big like box of 17'inch montior surely will kena.

biggest i got slip through is 2 MG Nu-Gundam(almost same as 2 box of MG Freedom or MG Strike). maybe i was really lucky that time.

sometimes kena tax also cheaper then buying from local...lol.(for some items)

just to share some of my online buying experience. I might be wrong though.
*
I follow all those fellow lowyaters advice and get only 3 gundam (2 MG 1 HG). The biggest among them is the freedom. Anyway, the whole thing cost RM380. Kena tax Rm109. and need to follow through quite a lot of procedures. And if u don't collect it at the post office within 7 days, they will send it back to the customs and they will apparently send it back to HLJ. Anyway, I treat this as an expensive learning experience. At least now i know how to purchase goods online. thumbup.gif

i once bought 10 same figurines worth RM500++ inc shipping from Japan, no tax by custom.

actually, your item may arrive less than 1 week but due to kastam, your things get stuck over there for another week or so.
*
May I know how big is the item. Did u buy insurance for it and declare it as a 500++ item?
