how about for 2 registered air parcel(not EMS) which sent out at the same time, are these have high possibility to be check by customs? Becos 2 parcels refer to the same delivery address and name. But declare value for each parcel are below RM300.

QUOTE(golbeza @ Mar 10 2009, 10:56 PM) They use EMS, fast shipping and good packaging..your item should arrive your house within 3-4 daysQUOTE(qwer312 @ Mar 11 2009, 12:22 AM) how about for 2 registered air parcel(not EMS) which sent out at the same time, are these have high possibility to be check by customs? Not sure but usually I'll ask the seller to send them at different days to avoid customs. I'm afraid if sometimes the custom checks the parcels and noticed 2 parcels to the same receiver, they might detain it although no tax charge..but when customs detain your parcel its very troublesome already..you have to go to their office -.- |

Dude, Custom checking are really random and very much depends on your luck, it doesn't matter that it is a big, small or package-separated parcel. There is no black & white stated any minimum cost of parcel will not be taxed, but some says should be below RM500, and again, there is no guarantee with that.My suggestion is, just lower your declared value to Custom, as low as possible (of coz, reasonable too!), then even you're so unlucky and got the tax (10% sales tax + 5% import duty), the tax paid can still be minimized. |

One more thing that need to remind everyone, all action figures are NOT categorized under toy category for Kastam Malaysia. Just click on the link below and type in the word "figure", you should get the result as wanted (the Kastam Malaysia website only works correctly on IE):
>> KASTAM DIRAJA MALAYSIA Excise/Tax Search For toys, there is no import duty but it still imposed 10% sales tax; whereas action figures will impose a 5% import duty + 10% sales tax, so totaled up is 15% on top of your custom declared value. The definition for "toy" in Kastam Malaysia are those movable thing to play with, included with engine or mechanical/electronic parts, then for those unmovable toys are considered as "model". For "figure", the definition is animated displays used for shop window dressing (refer to the Kastam website). But, I do not know about how they define figma since it is a movable figure, can anyone clarify this please? Hope this explanation will clear some myth among us. HAPPY COLLECTING~! QUOTE(advocado @ Mar 12 2009, 08:11 AM) animetsu have u read the clauses that BeatsX posted? Any thing you would like to add since i have yet go to their office. I did read the posting from BeatsX and others, but it is just too "technical" for me. I assume you are going to Kastam office at KLIA to collect your parcel and ready to pay the tax, so if this really happen, you may still able to bargain with them to reduce the tax, here's how: Come to the counter, they will give you the form for the 15% tax. Then, just act innocent, smile and talk to them like friends, such as saying "wow, kenapa mahal betul!", later you may ask the person at the counter about "boleh murah sikit ke?". But keep in mind, they do not see the declared value currency while asking for your payment, if they ask you how much the declare value, never mention the other foreign currency. Example, if your parcel declared value is USD300, so just say your parcel is worth only RM300~RM500, if you're lucky, they will simply accept without asking or checking anything. Normally, they will give you discount if they always see you come over personally to collect the parcel and hence knowing you as friend. This may sound a bit ridicules, huh? So, the main point is, chat with them and seek possible reduction on the tax imposed, like a credit-card salesman desperately looking for customer at the shopping center, we should learn the good bargaining skill from them. I did have a parcel worth USD625 and held at Kastam KLIA, but I only pay the 15% tax based on RM625, amazing! right? haha~! These are just my two cents, anyone have better idea, solution or experience to share here? |

I understand the nego part but...
But if the clause apply we don't even need to pay the tax. But then the 1980 & 1988 act it's just 2 simple clause I'm not well equipped with law. To what extent the cluase apply to us I cannot be 100% sure. I bet some custom officers don't even know these clauses exist... Also is the shipping fee taxable? |

Tax calculated includes the shipping. Also is the shipping fee taxable? This post has been edited by BeastX: Mar 12 2009, 11:36 AM |

How does XL-shop calculate the total amount you need to pay for 1 item plus shipping fee?
Just now i ask them to calculate but they seem to 'pusing-pusing' the information Example, if the item cost 8000yen(rm306)weight 1kg + shipping fee 1800yen (refering to EMS rate table to malaysia) Total=9800yen converted to our ringgit is around rm375.right? Is there any extra charges that i need to pay? Thanks This post has been edited by guntoly7: Mar 12 2009, 07:00 PM |

If order less than RM200, need to pay RM10 shipping fee (if not mistaken) It doesn't matter the quantity of items.. |

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 12 2009, 07:40 PM) No extra charges... product price and shipment price is listed on the package sent.. shipping could cost less, as the price quote on the webpage is to America,... Asia is slightly cheaper... ohh i see but there are explaination from HLJ guy dat makes me confuse.. *You can get a fairly accurate estimate of shipping by taking the online cost of one item (for example 1180 for SAL shipping to North America--this includes the packing materials, and you can check the shipping charts to find that this would be the amount to send a 1000 g order to North America). Add the total weight of the other items together, add that total to 1000 g, and look that total weight up on the SAL chart. (If the two other items total 1500 g in weight, it would be 1000 + 1500 = 2500 g. On the SAL chart, that would be 1680 yen.) It will vary a little because the shipping box and materials might change, but it's a good guess. i think he talking about shipping box right?i just ask him for 1 item +shipping fee only but he seem to give me this details Anyway thanks a lot guys maybe this is the risk having an expensive hobbies.. |

For HLJ, it is adviced by themselve that you choose non-direct payment 1st, they will send you an invoice regarding the shipping charges. After that you may revert back to Credit Card payment. If you think the EMS quoted is too expensive you have to email them to cancel your order and redo your order again.
I know even they say it's not perfect system. But if you refer the weight of the item against the shipping fee chart it's about there. |

Hi, this gonna be my 1st online purchase.
Between HLJ and HobbySearch which provide better packaging service? I'm planning to use EMS service. Some opinions are deeply appreciated. |
