My god..I hope this wont happen to me..I thought any stuff worth RM500 and below should pass customs without any problems..

The parcel is above rm500. That is why they detain my parcel. BUt this time lucky no tax but paid for the custom form.

Somehow, I feel that importing from HLJ are not as cheap as buying locally already...
*
Not all expensive. Some is cheapest than here. Some can't find here. But if the price different not much, I still prefer buy locally. Just do your calculation including tax and transport.

if you parcel have tracking thn u can see from there also, otherwise wait for the letter or call from them. I just get letter only never any call.
My latest parcel just collected from custom on monday, no tax and no need the RM18 form. The officer also say this one "tak sampai" (not over the RM500 limit), so wasted RM18 to go there, haiii
*
Sometime call and sometime just letter. By the way, what you mean "tak sampai" ?

FedEx is faster than EMS but yet its cheaper?? o.O

Hmm... is SAL method of shipping really that unreliable?
SAL is cheaper than EMS so I wanna know what is the delivery time to reach our shores?
Btw, I dont think that the item will be lost provided that the right address is printed on the parcel
*
Sometime I don't know how this HLJ shipping workout. Did ask them to send my item by SAL so can save some cost. But at the end still send by EMS. rclxub.gif

huh?? You've mistaken. HLJ are far more cheaper than local shops....
Well if you complain about shipping fee, use the ruler and measure tongue.gif sweat.gif

Not local shop ler. Hong kong site. I think you better do some research first.

Japan's EMS shipping is so much cheaper than Hong Kong's EMS eventhough Hong Kong is nearer to Malaysia..
*
Are you sure? I ve compare few site. HK site is the cheapest. I brought most of the item from HK site. Example, just received a Tamiya spray booth from HK site two days ago.
HK site + shipment cost = rm513
HLJ + shipment cost = rm643
Rainbouten(japan) + shipment cost = rm600

Not just shipment. Some item is cheaper than HLJ. Brought some Tamiya warship. And alot cheaper than HLJ. One thing I don't like about HLJ is they canot lower the invoice price for custom tax purpose. So 80% from them kena tax. But the HK sites no problem. They just put a dummy invoice as I request. Brought few time and never kena tax before.
Try this two site and you will never buy from HLJ.
luckymodel.com
hobbyeasy.com
If you can't find anything from this two sites, try this japan site. Abit cheaper than HLJ and can lower invoice price for custom clearance.
rainbowten.co.jp

And btw, I'm comparing HK and Japan lar.. that's why I ask you to take out ruler and measure... shipping of course will be more expensive lar.
sites? for the HK shop you mentioned?
*
Most of the shipping cost almost cost our item 1/3 of the price. The item is not expensive but the shipping is expensive. And we can't buy in big quantity to save the shipping cost. After all we are enduser. So it is best to find the lowest shipping cost site to buy. I don't care how far thier country from us. My wallet is important.

No tax. Straight send to my home. I ask the them to send as a gift. So they do something to the invoice.

wow nice website! May buy from them if cant find them locally!
I think it is really important thing if the selling party can change details on the invoice for us! Especially when importing paints or any solvent based stuff! Becoz local Kastam does not allow such thing to be imported! They will take ur stuff if they found out so! U wont kena tax but whole shipment is gone loh!
*
Actually import paint and solvent is not a problem even our custom side. The problem is thier country shipping rule. But some sites can overcome this problem. I ve brought some tamiya paint from HK sites without any problem. Brought tamiya spraycan paint from HLJ without any problem. Brought tamiya thinner from rainbowten without anyproblem. You can read thier shipping rule regarding the rule.

again...doh.gif HLJ shipping price is not expensive. It's called reasonable. They did not overcharge like ebay sellers. sweat.gif

Imagine I buy 1 kits from an ebay seller @ hongkong. he charge me USD 22.9 for shipping alone doh.gif
*
I just find those thing that I want to buy and compare the price. But all of them are cheaper than HLJ. So no reason I continue buy from HLJ. Anyway I not mean to band the HLJ. I still compare the price. If some item is cheap + shipment from HLJ, I will buy from them.
If price over RM500, even the HK sites is expensive, I will buy from HK sites. Cause if kena tax, the item is very expensive.
I didn't try to buy anything from ebay before. But if the shipping is that damn expensive, I won't buy.

Have brought few item from them. Not bad and you can ask to declare low value if your actual item over rm500. Unlike HLJ. Recommended.

Maybe can try order from HK site. I don't get tax from HK site out of 3 ordering. But get tax from jpn site most of the time. Recently got order one big box hobby ship from hk and exceed rm500. But no tax and straight to my doorstep. Order one small box ab from hlj about rm500 and stop at custom. Even didn't tax, but got to declare at custom. Waste my time to go there. Damn.

the chances of getting taxed has no relation to which country you order your stuff from. it depends on luck.. and HLJ declares real value for the parcel thats why we dont buy too much in one shipment from there.
*
Not sure is it luck. Maybe the custom take more consent package from japan as they know item from japan easly exceed rm500. Or most of the item from japan is expensive. Or they have experience record show item from hk is average lower value.

yes. if you buy from well-known company like HLJ they usually have their own principle that is to not make false declarations on the invoice. It's already been stated clearly in their T & C in their website.. on the other hand, if you make purchase from sellers from ebay most of them are willing to do so, so that you're happy and will buy with them again..
*
Actually it is not principle but require from japan gov. The jpn custom/gov tax will audit the company acc. If they found out acc not tally, they were in trouble. But I can ask HK site to declare lower value or as gift when brought from them. And some jpn site also. thumbup.gif

If the seller is a company like hlj, it is a crime. But buyer is not a crime. thumbup.gif If the seller is individu, than it is not a crime. Try find some individu seller in japan. Than you can get tax free. icon_rolleyes.gif
