Guys, what is the main purpose of having a viewfinder on the NEX system?

Let me take a shot at this.

Two possible reasons.
1. DOF too narrow.
2. Shutter speed is too slow and any movement will alter the focus area.

Yes, adding a flash would help.

For situations where bright sunlight hinders the use of the lcd screen.
If you use the peaking feature for manual focus lens, this is even more crucial.
And you look more "pro" looking through the viewfinder compared to the lcd screen  tongue.gif

Yes, that makes sense to pay 1K more for the viewfinder. Thx, guys.

The street price is 2550 for NEX-5ND for the full package with bag, 8GB and the Sony tripod and cleaner kit. Any further discount will be on your own nego skills.
