QUOTE(valkjr @ Feb 22 2012, 04:22 PM) can any1 recomend a good flash to go togather with NEX5N? NEX-5N does not have a hotshoe, only the Smart Accessory Terminal so the HVL-F20S is the only option besides the bundled HVL-F7S. Hope this helps. ...btw, can a nex5n even hotshoed with an external flash?...paiseh |

QUOTE(serewen @ Feb 23 2012, 09:12 AM) Anyone tried this external flash? is that worth to buy or what big differences in between the built in one ? I'm using the HVL-F20S and its better than the bundled flash as its brighter, comes with a diffuser and "taller". if you are looking into buying the 18-200mm lens or any zoom/telephoto lens the bundled flash would cause a shadow cos its too short. however they have a flash extender for this. what you can do to achieve the bounce flash effect is to just attach a shiny reflective card at the lower part of the HVL-F7S and secure it with a rubber band. works only if you have a low ceiling though. |

Hi guys, apparently the SEL50F18 is retailing in Malaysia for RM1,099. The dealer is offering me RM1,040 but through COD. Do you think it's worth to get it, or should I just spend MUCH MUCH less and go with the oldie Minolta MD 50mm f/1.7?
Cheers! |

Hey guys, is the Sigma 70-210mm f4-5.6 and SIGMA 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 any good? Both are manual zoom lenses with the Minolta MD mount.
Cheers! |

QUOTE(jimmyyap03 @ Apr 17 2012, 03:46 PM) Now its £9.99 for sigma 70-210 and 35-70 both minolta MD mount. I'm also bidding for the Minolta MD 28mm f/2.8 currently at £21. heehee both very good bargains! QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 17 2012, 04:21 PM) I dont think it's good for Jalan-jalan bcos of the manual feature & no OSS/ AF.. It's means for static object for sure haha.. if movement for sure not sharp dy Hmm.. true also hahah my 45mm also hard to capture moving objects but only sometimes very lucky to get a good shot. |

QUOTE(-Panadol- @ Apr 17 2012, 06:39 PM) Yalor... Problem with mf lens is that you need to use the MF Assist zoom screen, if use peaking alone is not as sharp, therefore can be a hit or miss affair. But using mf lens is fun, really special feeling compared to just point and shoot with the autofocus QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 17 2012, 07:12 PM) agreed! love the feel of focusing lo hahah! but sometimes really pek chek when subjects get OOF :/ one of the lucky shots:![]() on a brighter note, won the bid for the 35-70 and 70-210! |

QUOTE(-Panadol- @ Apr 18 2012, 11:56 AM) I think the 24mm has a better reputation... but more expensive! Yup yup.. actually its not very expensive at all! its around £50 on ebay UK. thought of trying for the Kiron 28mm f/2 but seems like there's always a problem with oil in the aperture blades. Would go for it if cleaning the aperture blades isn't so tedious. On a brighter note, managed to get the 35-70, 70-210 and 50mm f/1.7 for a mere £41! Wanted to bid for the 28mm also but decided against it coz wanna save $$$ for other accessories. Mind to share what you planning to get? This post has been edited by LinaLHY: Apr 18 2012, 01:29 PM |

QUOTE(jimmyyap03 @ Apr 18 2012, 09:32 PM) Plan go for Minolta lens rather than stick with nex lens...any idea for Minolta lens? Should i get adaptor for it? Depends which Minolta mount you are going for. There's the MC/MD and there's the AF, which is the same as the Sony A-Mount. Both need adapters, just be wary of the mounts! Nearly bought the wrong one last time hahah!I read through few web, feel like 55-210mm just nice for pricing, aperture lost alot This post has been edited by LinaLHY: Apr 18 2012, 09:45 PM |

QUOTE(jimmyyap03 @ Apr 18 2012, 09:55 PM) I saw that has 2 type Minolta lens, then better i post a question here....How to identify which lens have to use what adaptor? Like sony A lens and e mount, atleast we can know that adaptor Usually the lens name already gives it out. Minolta MC/MD lenses usually are called Rokkors e.g. Minolta MD Rokkor-X 45mm f/2, Minolta MD Tele-Rokkor 135mm f/2.8, Minolta MC Rokkor 58mm f/1.4, etc. So you need to use a MD-NEX adapter. If you see Minolta AF on the lens, then its the A-Mount. This one can use LA-EA1, LA-EA2 or third party adapter. I have one for sale if you're interested. |

QUOTE(tph84 @ Apr 19 2012, 12:38 AM) I am not sure if this is slow, but do you guys try to use the camera without the lens properly attached to the camera? I'm thinking that when he's holding the lens that way (lens senget), only the pins are in contact with the body? basically its like an 'invisible' extension tube lor. I just found out that if the 16mm pancake lens being detached from the camera and alight in between the object and camera, it can focus on very near object and the result is quite nice (at least to me) compare to the normal setup. Some sample output here: http://jdx7071.blogspot.com/2012/04/nex-5-...ject-using.html Please comment. |

QUOTE(tph84 @ Apr 19 2012, 12:52 AM) The pins is not connected, the lens is totally detached from the camera, the autofocus is not functioning, the focus is done by adjusting the distance between the lens and the camera. but then i dont think you can move the lens too far away from the camera without some sort of tube.. too much light will hit the sensor. tried it out d, not very safe to unscrew the lens while the camera is on XD |

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 19 2012, 09:23 AM) Interesting but I think the macro shot using this method from what I see from your pictures are not clear. probably insufficient lighthing. can't have too much light as well because there's nothing to block any excess light hitting the sensor. i used a flash and it's only decently okay in the middle (very small area)![]() also, this method exposes your sensor to some nasties.. not good at all.
