Hi, I am interesting to get a decent 200mm or 300mm telephoto lens for my NEX-5N.

Which is recommended beside the Sony one. (Not intend to get any converter yet).

I also notice Sony got release a new SEL18200LE, what the different compare with previous SEL18200, what the different among both and which is better. I know SEL18200LE is slightly cheaper and some site mention it seems is re-branded of Tamron one. Is it true?

Which one shall I grab? also any E-mount 300mm lens?

Or shall I just get the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC? It seems much cheaper right? How this lens quality and performance?

Hi Noobiba and samsungfreak,

I'm not sure if this can be used to convince you guys otherwise regarding your sentiments on the 16.. f/2.8 lens, but I don't seem to have any issues with it even with a very basic NEX3. Furthermore, as you know attaching anything to the front of any lens will definitely degrade the image quality by a fair bit however little it may be.

But do consider looking through these images in my blog and give your opinion on my so-so images... taken with NEX3 with 16mm f/2.8 lens with fisheye adapter in front.

I had snap some photos using Sony NEX-5N with 16mm lens without any filter / adapter. I don't think the output is that bad as online review. They is no vignette issue and not really have softening on side.

Attached below photos with different aperture, photo unmodified beside add-on signature only.

this set for sale too, hehe offer me a good price everything inside photo for sale.

Did you use any filter? (just notice you mention you not using any filter) or possible your 16mm defective? It is kind of strong vignette in your photo.

I try snap using f/8 as well, it is not that bad vignette.

i do notice the vignette from my 16mm lens as well especially in low light/indoor+close up situation...
if you use to shoot landscape/scenery or outdoor photo, vignette will disappear...

probably 16mm is too wide? how about work with the ultra wide angle adapter?   shakehead.gif
*

I also notice it got slightly vignette when snap indoor dark, but not that bad as Noobiba one. This 16mm is wide angle lens, I think it means suppose be wide right.

ur pic vignet quite obvious too sweat.gif
*
It got slightly at right side but not that bad, and probably is lighting issue, as my room only got one small light, and right side is far darker than left.

Hi guys, I have NEX-5N, is there a function that auto rotates the image while in display mode?

For example when we are reviewing pictures, when turn the camera straight, the photo will auto rotate to fill up the whole screen, and when turn back horizontal then the photo will auto rotate back.

I can't seem to find this settings in the options so I was wondering whether it exists or not.
*
The camera don't have accelerometer, impossible. What I did is don't set the camera auto rotate during playback, so portrait will fill up the screen, just rotate the camera to see portrait snap, rather than tiny portrait in landscape mode.

are you using manual settings?
I do have a question. How to balance aperture and shutter speed?
*
Sometimes I use manual focus, depends. 2nd question I not sure how to answer you. Haha! More try out then you will know. I never really balancing it, I do on how I feel, sometimes slightly dark / bright does not means is bad.
