Other option is Circular Pol filter. Kill 2 birds with one stone. There is one catch though.  It can cause vignetting at wide angle.

Maybe we can gather a few people and buy in bulk, perhaps can get cheaper biggrin.gif Another viable option would be Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC (I actually prefer this) which was announced/launched not long ago, it even comes in sexy black drool.gif
http://www.tamron.co.jp/en/lineup/b011/index.html

Local distro for Tamron already has it, price is still high atm but should drop after 3-4 months... Hopefully tongue.gif

i suppose Tamrom and Sigma should be significantly cheaper than original lens?

Sony 18200 rrp2399 vs tamron rrp2899 ? shocking.gif

Oh, that was pretty fast sweat.gif For ~RM200, I think it's quite an affordable and value for money lens which has 1:2.2 macro ability. At the moment, I'm targeting Komine (said to be the best of all versions) or maybe a Kiron, but definitely not Cosina tongue.gif
*
tokina version (start with NO.37) macro is only 1:4, not really a macro lens... but from what i read from internet, quite a number of users said Tokina is the best among vivitar series 1, if you don't mind macro focusing... How true is that i am not sure unsure.gif

Tokina version is the lightest and smallest among first 3 version of vivitar series 1(all review said only choose first 3 version), but Tokina version is already bulky and heavy, so i really cant imagine the other version's weight and size doh.gif

Hehe, there are a lot of Series 1 out there (8 iianm). Kiron does 1:2.2 macro, Tokina 1:4, and Komine 1:2.5... Komine is said to be the sharpest of the bunch though, but then again some prefer the Tokina. Since you've you used the Tokina with NEX, mind sharing how's the overall feel (when you say bulky and heavy, I assume handling is bad?). Need tripod to get decent pics or will handheld be sufficient? biggrin.gif
*
ya...the handling is bad for me sweat.gif

when this lens attach to nex, i hold the lens instead of camera, if i hold on camera i really scare the mount will break apart doh.gif so i don't dare to use tripod either, the lens weight is too much rclxub.gif

and when focusing,i turn focus ring with 1 hand , hold the lens(camera) with another hand, then hand shake seriously till i always get blur picture cool2.gif

maybe i have a chicken hand tongue.gif

Added on February 27, 2012, 9:49 amNext - A real MD manual focus macro lens??
*
which version of sigma 70-210mm?

i am finding a macro lens too, if focal length < 100mm, its hard to shoot animal except for some slow movements bugs, but if if not AF and OSS, >100mm is easily blur due to handshake... Dilemma doh.gif

Added on February 27, 2012, 11:32 amRisk my life for this shot, wild owl with 50mm lens, simply a step ahead i can reach "him" sweat.gif

Please advice, am i overdoing the color/contrast/sharpness? CnC is greatly welcome smile.gif

"Sigma UC Zoom 70-210mm F4-5.6 Multicoated. Minolta MD mount"

Looking for a 100mm 1:1 macro lens..either minolta/Sigma wth MD mount for sure since I hv the MD adapter dy  rclxms.gif

this pic is taken by MD 50mm F1.7, no money to buy 1.4 doh.gif

1st pic is taken @ f3.5, so its obviously sharper than the 2nd one, taken with f1.7...

That one crop at F3.5? Yeah really wow..I think I must reduced my F from 1.4 to probably 2.8 or 4 too haha

One think I dun like about 50MM after using it for few days + the added adapter is the focal lenght permanently >50mm & wth the adapter probably 80MM? That's already any auto max zoom lens liao compare wth my existing 18-55 kit lens and if wanna shoot food picture, I need to sit further away from my food.. sad.gif
*
ya, at f2.8/3.5...

PP awhile for that same pic, and i like this tone thumbup.gif

suddenly remind of a thing call extension tube, it can shorten the minimum focus distance. but how well the effect i don know, nvr try b4 biggrin.gif

So when you are using the MD adaptor, it will still a MF lenses, but when you are attached to the LA-EA2, it will turns up an AF lenses, am I right?(I was attended a Sony workshop and heard about this) hmm.gif
*
if u buy alpha lens, ya, will AF when using LA-EA2, but its super duper slow AF...

the lens i bought is MD 50mm f1.7, its an OLD lens, which at that moment still didnt invent AF yet whistling.gif MC/MD lens cant use LA-EA2, because the mount is different... and no matter how, it cant AF... if it AF, u throw it away and u run biggrin.gif
