yeah, funny how people look at it as a brand war or brand win / loss thing.

i just look at it as user experience sharing, either way both brands are good.

many people only saw the switch brand part but not the other parts like how he said he won awards with Canon gear, and also loved the 1D4. In fact he was using 5D2 and was fine with it.

nevertheless, both brands are good la. Don't waste time debating on brands. biggrin.gif

do you even need CPL and such?

Just set lowest ISO and stick to f5.6 la. Should have plenty of shutter speed left .............

BUT, 1.5x with 18-105, how far can you zoom to the tee? Spectators are often standing quite far away.
*
i dont know yet...the sun must be bright so i tot i need UV filter.... i'm not a pro and thats why the boss ask the slave to berbakti.... i dont know yet how the plan but normally for a normal company game, mana ada spectator ramai2...all kaki golf aje..so i may shot the player.... i know i coudltn get closer to the tee unless i ask the boss to buy 300mm (so that i can also use it..hehe) but he just said no to that ... he only approve for filter... so budget for the filter... but if u say i wont need one, so be it.. thanks for ur reply

any other inputs??

if it's sunny, maybe can try and get a graduated filter, lens hood ,if the lens doesn't have one, skylight filter would be another ,depending on the types of shots you will be taking
ok thanks...yeah lens has the original hood.... will try to buy a normal UV filter la... ok ke tak??

and i'll be damned!!!! drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif i just found the hidden treasure in the closet..it turn out that the office bought a Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED...with no filter...just collecting dust (i hope not fungus) in the golden box... checking with the guy that keep all asset said that it was never used since 2008... and the guy that responsible for the purchased has long retired... hahaha....

errr u know UV filter doesnt do anything right? tongue.gif just for protection purposes ma. no need filter also nevermind.

bring both the 60mm and 18-105. make sure u shoot at max resolution because u'll need to crop a lot later to compensate the 105*1.5=~160mm max focal length. but when u're not shooting tee off, switch to the 60mm. group photos, back to 18-105

oh, learn to use flash for daylight, as well as spot metering, if u havent know these yet. u dont want to end up having pictures with nice backgorund but the people are too dark
*
ok...thanks for the very informative answer....
that 60mm is expensive lens and scared to use...already tried a few shot just now .. autofocus is very fast n crazy....
but maybe i will bring only 18-105....

what do u mean by max resolution?? u mean shoot in RAW or JPEG fine?? or high ISO ?? (sorry noob again)

and office also got SB-600 and SB-900 (i just found out also that we had SB-900) vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

so if u want to use these speedlight, do i need a diffuser?? since i will shooting outdoor, bouncing cannot do right... or do i need a flash bouncer card and point up at which angle??

i seldom use flash outside especially during daylight.... but thanks so far

expensive because it's good la! buy so expensive but never use, that's a waste of company money what tongue.gif

max resolution i mean shoot at the largest size. i see some ppl chose to shoot at smaller size so 'they can take more photos'. dont do that. since u'll be shooting from afar, u'll need all the resolution u can have.

ISO is something u almost always should use the lowest possible. RAW or JPEG up to u, too many arguments about this tongue.gif

i think u should leave the flashgun if u dont know how to use it. it'll just weigh you down. just pay attention to where the sun is, and the built-in flash should be enough for fill flash. that's my opinion la, im never a fan of flashguns
*
hahaha...memang waste company money....the guy that responsible is a best friend of the boss...he resigned already lucky he didnt rembat that lens...

ok..i got it about the resolution..i never select all other beside RAW and JPEG fine... 4GB card enough for 1000 photos ... hahaha

what ISO is the best for outdoor sunny day?? 100-200??

i plan to use speedlight... i try bounced and diffused but indor only... for outdoor what can we do?? just direct aim at the subject with build-in lens diffuser (SB-600??

thanks once again

brader,

lemme ask you something,
do you think you can remember all of the advises given to you by our fellow photographers?
I am positively sure when it comes to the day of the shoot, you'll be snapping like a happy camper without remembering alot of details/advises here, why? because you need to take as many photos as you can and can't be bothered with the setting, unless you know the camera and settings inside out.

Tell you what, ask your boss, half day off, or halfday work day to go to the golf course, or any golfcourse for that matter, tell him/her you need to see and do some trial shootings before the competition day. Go snap and take as many pix as you can, and same time tweak settings of the camera.

Another thing is, the couple of questions you have been asking, and its all basic photography, and the basis of taking photos is understanding those basic stuff, maybe you could look through the manual and see if it can help you understand things better. Wait till you get to white balance , D-lighting,HDR, EV compensation, auto bracketing, then you'll totally confused

just my observations so far
*
thanks for u reply...i will remember or try to remember.... how come u positively sure while u never meet me...
judging people let people judging u bro.. (no offend)..maybe u are a Pro...so just give some help for a poor dude like me to improve...

i had some experience shooting outdoor...but thats was just for fun... when the boss asked me, u got to know, the fun is lost..and i'm just hope nothing bad happen... hehe
..i know some bacis based on my hard learning process..i dont go to photo lesson or course... i just shot and learn.... but this time i just a bit scared coz the boss asked me... coz he saw some of my photos collection and he think (i dont) that i'm a good (or maybe cheap/free alternative..) hahaha
so i dont wanna to spoil the event photo...and the boss wont blame me or who knows i got a paid job (in my dream).........
white balance OK...
D-ligthing - wakarimasen
HDR - tried it but gave up
EV comp - pening ooooo
auto bracket - OK sikit2... hihihih

so about the flash thinghy, no answer yet..

btw, thanks for ur great comments....
