yeah, funny how people look at it as a brand war or brand win / loss thing.

i just look at it as user experience sharing, either way both brands are good.

many people only saw the switch brand part but not the other parts like how he said he won awards with Canon gear, and also loved the 1D4. In fact he was using 5D2 and was fine with it.

nevertheless, both brands are good la. Don't waste time debating on brands.

Just set lowest ISO and stick to f5.6 la. Should have plenty of shutter speed left .............

BUT, 1.5x with 18-105, how far can you zoom to the tee? Spectators are often standing quite far away.

if it's sunny, maybe can try and get a graduated filter, lens hood ,if the lens doesn't have one, skylight filter would be another ,depending on the types of shots you will be taking

errr u know UV filter doesnt do anything right? just for protection purposes ma. no need filter also nevermind.

bring both the 60mm and 18-105. make sure u shoot at max resolution because u'll need to crop a lot later to compensate the 105*1.5=~160mm max focal length. but when u're not shooting tee off, switch to the 60mm. group photos, back to 18-105

oh, learn to use flash for daylight, as well as spot metering, if u havent know these yet. u dont want to end up having pictures with nice backgorund but the people are too dark

expensive because it's good la! buy so expensive but never use, that's a waste of company money what

max resolution i mean shoot at the largest size. i see some ppl chose to shoot at smaller size so 'they can take more photos'. dont do that. since u'll be shooting from afar, u'll need all the resolution u can have.

ISO is something u almost always should use the lowest possible. RAW or JPEG up to u, too many arguments about this

i think u should leave the flashgun if u dont know how to use it. it'll just weigh you down. just pay attention to where the sun is, and the built-in flash should be enough for fill flash. that's my opinion la, im never a fan of flashguns

lemme ask you something,
do you think you can remember all of the advises given to you by our fellow photographers?
I am positively sure when it comes to the day of the shoot, you'll be snapping like a happy camper without remembering alot of details/advises here, why? because you need to take as many photos as you can and can't be bothered with the setting, unless you know the camera and settings inside out.

Tell you what, ask your boss, half day off, or halfday work day to go to the golf course, or any golfcourse for that matter, tell him/her you need to see and do some trial shootings before the competition day. Go snap and take as many pix as you can, and same time tweak settings of the camera.

Another thing is, the couple of questions you have been asking, and its all basic photography, and the basis of taking photos is understanding those basic stuff, maybe you could look through the manual and see if it can help you understand things better. Wait till you get to white balance , D-lighting,HDR, EV compensation, auto bracketing, then you'll totally confused

just my observations so far

golf? just have fun shoot golf at lowest ISO!!! than control ur aperture to get the motion or to freeze it! i use 116, 50mm and 80200 for this!
