QUOTE(ojtee @ Jan 28 2012, 11:32 AM) if AF speed is not an issue, then the tamron would do nice, thing about the 85 1.8g is that there isn't any real life feedback test on it, so its kinda gamble if you get it first hand, abathen, since its the 2nd gen 1.8, it will prob be as good if not better than its predecessor QUOTE(mmohdnor @ Jan 28 2012, 12:16 PM) I just got my self a tamron sp90 about a month now. though it is pretty sharp for macro and portraits, it is less practicle for portraits. Once in a while use ok lah. This is because the AF speed is not as fast as AF-S or other motor lenses. Plus, there's no VR (if u care). Agree with celciuz, the lens extends a lot! I use it for macro mostly as it is pretty sharp and can get really close. A macro beginner here. QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 28 2012, 12:20 PM) SP90 is a good choice for macro, but for portrait have to deal with the f/2.8, slow AF. The 85mm f/1.8G however is a f/1.8 and also a AF-S. Should be better for portrait, but of course not a macro lens like what the SP90 can do. thanks guys for ur feedback |

QUOTE(hidden830726 @ Jan 28 2012, 01:17 PM) If macro is a bonus, get 85 1.8g la, new and smell good. And as mentioned by sifu, its going to be fast AF compare to Sp90 (judging by previous product of each brand) ah okay then i'll be patient. hopefully not too expensiveQUOTE(scotty @ Jan 28 2012, 01:20 PM) i think at least 1.6k too.QUOTE(hidden830726 @ Jan 28 2012, 01:21 PM) 1) sell to me for rm650 2) yeap! |

i got the chance to play with a tamron 70-200 f2.8 yesterday. reviews say the AF is slow but when i tested it (it was on a canon 60D though) i find the AF good enough for my usage.
can i assume the AF performance is the same with sp90? if it is, ill probably get a used sp90 instead of waiting for a brand new 85/1.8G. can save almost 1k im also thinking if i should just spend extra for the tamron 70-200 instead. great lens but im not so sure if im comfortable carrying such a huge one This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Feb 6 2012, 12:19 PM |

QUOTE(enJiNer @ Feb 9 2012, 06:43 PM) ok thanks...yeah lens has the original hood.... will try to buy a normal UV filter la... ok ke tak?? errr u know UV filter doesnt do anything right? and i'll be damned!!!! Added on February 9, 2012, 6:43 pmerrr.... d800 out edi ahh?? how much is the price?? bring both the 60mm and 18-105. make sure u shoot at max resolution because u'll need to crop a lot later to compensate the 105*1.5=~160mm max focal length. but when u're not shooting tee off, switch to the 60mm. group photos, back to 18-105 oh, learn to use flash for daylight, as well as spot metering, if u havent know these yet. u dont want to end up having pictures with nice backgorund but the people are too dark This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Feb 9 2012, 08:28 PM |

QUOTE(enJiNer @ Feb 9 2012, 09:24 PM) ok...thanks for the very informative answer.... expensive because it's good la! buy so expensive but never use, that's a waste of company money what that 60mm is expensive lens and scared to use...already tried a few shot just now .. autofocus is very fast n crazy.... but maybe i will bring only 18-105.... what do u mean by max resolution?? u mean shoot in RAW or JPEG fine?? or high ISO ?? (sorry noob again) and office also got SB-600 and SB-900 (i just found out also that we had SB-900) so if u want to use these speedlight, do i need a diffuser?? since i will shooting outdoor, bouncing cannot do right... or do i need a flash bouncer card and point up at which angle?? i seldom use flash outside especially during daylight.... but thanks so far max resolution i mean shoot at the largest size. i see some ppl chose to shoot at smaller size so 'they can take more photos'. dont do that. since u'll be shooting from afar, u'll need all the resolution u can have. ISO is something u almost always should use the lowest possible. RAW or JPEG up to u, too many arguments about this i think u should leave the flashgun if u dont know how to use it. it'll just weigh you down. just pay attention to where the sun is, and the built-in flash should be enough for fill flash. that's my opinion la, im never a fan of flashguns |
