Non-taken, Actually, I was speaking from my own experience, no I'm not a pro, but occasionally do serious photo taking for 'bosses', and I know how it feels like when expectations are high ,thats why I wrote what I wrote, but I didn't judge you on anything.
I was sure you would be in a nervous situation coz the way you wrote about the event , I can sense some nervousness, plus the boss is expecting some good shots, making it worst for you

This is a very common answer and yet the answer that only the person that using it can tell. It depends on what you want to shoot and how you want to shoot it. At certain condition or style, a 50mm may be more preferable than 35mm and vice versa.

Given asking about opinion, I'll pick the 50mm at anytime than the 35mm. If to go wide, I'll go wider than 35mm.

2nd dat! couple it with ultra wide angle and im all perfect ed!

di622 is good for money. around RM400 2nd maa haha

problem is
-unstable fire. out of 10, i guess 2 will be under/over
-eat alot of battery!
-harsh flash if direct
-on CLS side, its hard to trigger by optical and every flash can trigger it
-not frenly user interface!
-superslow cycle rates

goodside
-cheap
-lightweight
-better some than none
-i shoot with whatever i got at the moment

just my experience ony cool.gif never touch yongnuo yet

Im using d5100. Actually my target is sb-600/700. 900 is too far from my range and i don think my d5100 need that kind of top class flashgun, so i just try to look for 3rd party.
Can sb600 satisfy a normal user (friends n family, portraits, vacation)?
Besides, i still need to get a DX portraits lens (35mm).

canon is really good for calculator.
*
even di622 can give satisfaction. or even SB910 also can give satisfaction.

u dont think ur D5100 need top gun flashgun? well its depends on the user. for me, only SB700 and SB900 can satisfy me at the moment. else, err nope. own SB600 but not reli like the tilt. dats all
