Hi there people.
I need a good portable player to save my phone's battery.
Something that costs between RM300-500 and absolutely nothing more. Less is good. I remember the Hippo Gumstick and Cube C30 being small cheap and good and pretty powerful.

I need some power too. Nothing like an HM601 but decent enough to not drown the bass of a high impedance headphone, or require almost 100% volume for the headphone to sound decent. When I say high impedance, I mean relative to IEMs, like 40-50 Ohm.

If anyone can help that would be lovely. tongue.gif

Hi,

Audiophile newbie here. Has anyone had experience with the sony nwz-f886? Any review of the sound quality?

I was thinking of getting that as an upgrade to where I'm currently streaming from a laptop. I was wondering how much of a sound quality upgrade would it be.

Fiio X3, Ibasso DX50, HiFiMAN HM700 + RE400B combo are same level DAP, just different sound signature.
RM680~RM850, Slightly out of your budget lah~haha.

Colorfly C3, clean and neutral sound. Mid and bass is not very thick, details not bad. Build in amp soso, but enough to drive most of the IEM.
Weak point: Only got Headphone out, no line out. Touch screen a little bit lag.
This one is cheaper, around RM350.

Would you able to share your comments on which is a better buy? Colorfly C3, Ipod Video with rockbox, Sansa Fuze+ and Nova N1. All of them below 500 range and all of them seems pretty decent. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Stay away from Nova N1, a failed product.
C3 and Sansa are good products, but with some flaws. C3 has better build quality and a brighter sound signature but poor UI and controls. Not much dynamics in the sound too. Sansa build quality is not as good but with better UI and SQ just below C3.
If you want a better all rounder product, try looking for a second hand X3 or DX50.

Agree with Lego Warfare's opinion. N1 is very......not good. haha.
haven't tried other dap except C3. Its sound is refined, clean, slightly bright and transparent, but not warm and dynamic enough. UI and controls quite lag.

X3, DX50 and HM700 definitely are higher range products.

Thank you Lego Warfare and liquidgal for the informative reply, I appreciate that. Reading review on the DX50 is like self poisoning, so strong that is so hard to resist especially people over head fi praising on the SQ. I doesn't have a good equipments to begin with, currently only a pair of CX500 and SE215, along with a martini+ that I just could not resist the offer. If you were in my shoes, would you get a DX50 or just Sansa Clip+ and called it a day? The journey you guys been through definitely not a cheap one IMO. blush.gif

Hi guys, currently using a sansa clip+ as my DAP, would the Ibasso DX50 or Fiio X3 be a significant upgrade from the sansa? will be pairing it with the TF10, TIA

I see, which one would u recommend? i heard the x3s are quite warm sounding, that's not what i'm looking for, DX50 looks like a great choice but i see people complain bout the UI, I'm leaning more towards the DX50 tho, as long as SQ's good i'm sold biggrin.gif

each has advantage over another, X3 is stable GUI running but SQ might lose to DX50, while DX50 GUI needs time to be stable, SQ might win a bit over X3
