Need some advice here.. Part of my parents' house roof is damaged and they wish to get a contractor to make a new roof + the remaking the timber underneath. Do any of you know good contractors in KL to do that, and do you know roughly the price? They were quoted RM$18k for the whole thing and I was thinking that's too expensive.. Any information will be nice.

Thanks for the replies. The proposed material is timber. Hmm.. I haven't heard of metal being a better and cheaper choice. Will check further.
Anyone think 18k is too much? What is a reasonable roofing cost for a terrace house? |

are u talking about the roof truss or the roof itself?
i think metal trusses are cheaper nowadays timber are harder to find and expensive.. most of house projects use steel truss roofing |

What is a reasonable roofing cost for a terrace house? supply & install new steel trusses, new double side alum foil & new roof tiles?? how about ceiling? your old ceiling hang to the old timber roof truss have to remove too.. 18k is cheap if the scope of work include all above + dismantle & dispose the old trusses, roof tiles |

You need to provide detail, e.g. house size, current roof design, some house are small but the design of roof are so complicated it take lots of works, and lots of material too. Look at Subang SS18, SS19, and USJ all so many fancy fancy roof design, but is practically useless in term of space planning.
What type of roof the contractor supply? Full glossy clay roof? or Cement roof, or maybe one layer of shin paint on the cement roof? Truss material use? Aluminum or Wood truss? how thick the Aluminum if use aluminum truss, can it support heavy load like solar? Wood still have its benefit comparing to aluminum truss. It handle higher load too. Some contractor use good quality "pressure treated wood" no need to worry of termite attack. |
