Six Best Friends To Cycle From Penang To London

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Six best friends intent to create local history by cycling 80,000 kilometres from here to London under a program called "Lebuh Downing ke Downing Street" (From Downing Avenue to Downing Street).

They will start the journey at Lebuh Downing here on Feb 4 and are scheduled to finish it at Downing Street, London in conjunction with the London Olympic Games in July.

One of the participants, Bakar Noordin, 49, said all the participants, the youngest aged 49 and the eldest 60, had been making preparations the last three years for this epic journey.

He said they would be on the road for around 173 days and cross more than 900 cities in 18 countries before reaching London.

The others in the group are Saw Peng Hooi, 60; Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Chu, 53; Tim Dabies, 53; Chew See Lim, 53, and Abdul Razak Khamis, 57.

By plane. Ride bicycle to airport. Send bicycle to cargo, then take airplane together with the cargo. Reach London, open back cargo, ride the bicycle to your destination.

By ship. Ride bicycle to seaport. Send bicycle to cargo, then take ship together with the cargo. Reach London, open back cargo, ride the bicycle to your destination.
