want to ask

i have this equipment see, it requires 12v 500mA

but i lost the adaptor, so i use a 12v 1000mA instead

is it ok in the long run? will it explode? do i need to enter cheat code or something?

tq

Can, even better. Voltage must be same, device will only draw whatever current it needs, the adapter just has that ceiling limit, it does not set the current.

no risk here...

actually, the inverse: if a device requires 12V 1000mA, but you use 12V 500mA adaptor instead, then (other than the device will not power up) the adaptor will overheat and will probably be damaged (or even explode).

safe, as long as the adapter can provide MORE than the device consume. Not the other way, if the device can eat more than the adapter can provide, the adapter will work max for long hour and it will eventually burn, but work lesser than its capable is sure no problem.
