Just started playing again. Spent a good few day just exploring the tons of mods out there. And i have to say, Skyrim is like a vintage wine, it just gets better and better with age. Some of the mods blew my mind.
My latest download is the headtracking mod, it basically makes your character turn his/her head towards NPCs during convo or just walking past them. Could still use a few tweaks but otherwise a brilliant mod. Adds a lot of immersion.
Guys, just want to ask. Why Skyrim always CTD (crash to desktop) too much? Problem with mods? What could make it CTD anyway? Always CTD when I fast travel or entering mod-related place.
Recommend you download and use Boss. It will auto sort most mods which helps to reduce conflicts. Whenever you use it, it will display the mods summary on your browser, check the compatibility section as it can tell you more about your mods i.e. bugs, additional mod options, whether or not you are using more than one related plugins, potential conflicts etc.
Not necessarily. It just won't sort the mods that it doesn't recognize, so it's up to you to sort it. I would just arrange those unrecognized mods at the bottom of the list and then check if it still crashes. If it does then try disabling those mods.
PS: If you crash a lot during fast traveling, just disable the auto saving feature in the option. It used to have to me a lot a while back and i just disabled it.

I first started with as low as 5 mods too. But then everyday i kept going back to nexus to check out some other mods, and the number just kept of growing and growing lol. It's strangely addictive.
enbseries.ini values tweak by myself. enbeffect.fx files are mixed from T.A.Z with my own settings. Sun texture I modified from T.A.Z. enbprepass.fx (DOF) from IndigoNeko code. Boris new enbbloom.fx code. All those name u can find in ENB official forum skyrim thread along with the files/code.
This is definitely working for me. I used to crash between the stones and Riverwood. This patch seems to fix that. But i haven't tested with speedmult tho.
I've found Mod Organizer, ENBoost, SKSE, SkyUI, StableUGridstoLoad and all the Unofficial Patches are necessary for the most basic Skyrim gameplay.
Other than that, Alternate Start, Helgen Reborn, Interesting NPCs, Vilja, SMIM, Immersive Weapons and Immersive Armor adds a lot to Skyrim it's basically a crime not to install them.
Anyone else have other mods in mind that are ultra-necessary?
I'm using step 2.2.8 and then add stuff on top of that. I also find Boss, BUM, Wyre Bash and tes5edit to be absolute necessary in my current setup.
get this one, hypothermia. gonna change ur gameplay experience a lot
Yeah i'm playing with Frostfall and Requiem - Would have added Realistic needs and disease but scared to overload my game with scripts. But so far, no crashes and i'm enjoying the gameplay. Can be punishing at times but the suspense and thrills are well worth it.
Requiem has a lot of compatibility requirements right? I like the concept, but I'm afraid of it conflicting with other mods that I have. Others like SkyRe and ASIS as well has a lot of incompatibility. Wondering if anyone has a success story of them when installing them with other mods.
Yeah it's a massive gameplay overhaul so it does conflict with any mods that changes the core game mechanics. But there are compatible patches that makes Requiem friendly with other mods i.e. Immersive Patrol, immersive creatures, dragon overhaul, interesting npcs etc. What you can do is use a different profile for requiem in mod organizer so you can test and see if it breaks your game or if it suits your taste. That way you can easily fall back to previous profile without having to fiddle with your mod load orders etc. Mod Organizer can also force local save game for that particular profile so when you back to your old profile, you won't see any Requiem savegames. Just remember to create a different profile before you install Requiem.
Here are some requiem links that may help you in the future ..
Yeah, a lot of people recommended that mod for immersiveness. Gonna try that in a new save game. Cool. I know it won't work with ASIS, PISE, SkyRe right?
How about mods that changes armor like Immersive Armors/Weapons or Amor/Weapons fixes or companions like Vilja?
Frostfall should work okay with ASIS, PISE and Skyre - it mostly only affects how your character reacts to weather conditions like snow and rain. I absolutely love this mod and immersive mods works well with Requiem because it makes the game feels really harsh and gritty.
Requiem already has immersive armors v6 but you can use the v7. Just make sure to get the patches or the game will be unbalanced. What kinda weapon armor fixes ? I know it's completely compatible to texture mods like Book of Silence etc. Vilja works fine in Requiem but she's not balanced for Requiem, in the sense that she's too powerful because her stats are based on vanilla skyrim. She makes the game too easy so i mostly use her as a mule and a traveling companion haha. But her other functions like cooking, gathering, etc highly complement other immersive mods like Frostfall, Realistic needs etc because you need to sleep, eat and protect yourself from the harsh world of Skyrim.
Here are some Requiem videos that might interest you. The first one is without Frostfall. Haven't really watched the second one but the first is well made and fun to watch.
Ahh ok. Yeah it won't work because Requiem already does what those mods do. But you can tweak Requiem via MM settings to suits your preference. You don't have to play the default settings if you don't want to.
edit: Watching the 2nd video haha. It's hilarious because the guy doesn't know anything about Requiem and it makes a hilarious viewing. You should just watch the first bit and then decide .. lots of spoilers that can ruin the experience imo.

I'm currently using ACE as ASIS/SkyRe/Requiem/PISE sometimes causes some incompatibilities with other mods especially some companion/armor/enemy AI mods.
No problems. Haven't tried ACE but i've tried ASIS and Skyre before and didn't quite like them. Impressed with Require so far because it's quite complete and thorough. It's obviously very niche in the sense that it's design for a specific type of gameplay.
Anyone knows a mod I can order custom armor/enchantments from blacksmith/wizards?
I find that it ruins the immersion when I have to craft my own armor and enchantment when my char is just a rangermage who is dealing in potions business.
Not exactly what you are asking but you can try out Dynamic Loots. It's fully customizable via McM so you can control the mod's behaviour.
Frostfall CTDs a lot for me. It's not compatible with Immersive Armors I think.
That shouldn't be the case as both those mods are working fine for me. Did you run Boss to sort the load order ? And maybe go through the compatibility page and see if you can trace the actual problem. There's also a troubleshooting section that might be able to help you out.
New pet mod (well more like a sequel to an older one) that lets you tame pretty any beasts in the game and even dragons! Haven't tested the dragon but i just tamed me a wolf. Comes with a petstore and a happiness system so you need to care for your pets by feeding them treats and stuff. There's also a neat questing feature that will point you towards cool rare beasts that you can tame.
I think it's due to Duel Combat Realism. Too many scripts firing that may cause a contention when running with Frostfall. Without Frostfall, I'm not CTDing every 15mins, but every hour or so, I CTD when initiating/exiting combat.
Well that sucks man. Did you tweak any of the papyrus settings ? And are you using the memory patch ? The mem patch does a lot to stabilize the game and allows you to use more heavy scripted mods. What you can also do is get the convenient horses mod and run it's script latency .. it will tell you whether or not you game is severely affected by scripts. You want under 50 or 100ms .. anything above that can cause problems.
One more thing. I did try Ultimate Combat (which is similar to Duel Combat Realism) and I played for an hour plus without crashing though.
Interesting. It does sounds like Duel Combat Realism might be causing issues and perhaps not friendly to other mods. But i'm not 100% certain as i don't use DCR. I think you shouldn't be crashing every hour if use both enboost and the memory patch unless your game actually breaks the 3.1gb limit or a mod conflict which triggers those CTDs.
Post your script latency later and we see if we can find a solution to fix your problem. As for the papyrus, i used to run similar tweaks but have since removed it which helped improve stability - but yours does look close to default setting - can't be sure tho.
