Its mostly the first one.
You dun have to be tech savvy to flash custom rom, just need to know how to read and follow instructions.
If users of XDA can read and follow insruction, the developers will not be so fakap.  tongue.gif
*
It's not that non-tech-savvy people are stupid, it's that they don't care about having to manually update to newer version / or don't care about newer version at all. Don't be surprised this makes up 90% of the SGS2 users

About those XDA developers... I'm not saying that they are cocky, but there are really few "real" SGS2 developers whom I respect. Most of them just change the look and feel, change the build.prop and call it their own ROM. So for now I'm either waiting for CM9 or official ICS smile.gif (just my personal view - of course they are still some good developers in the forum, not denying!)

ICS is still experimental on SGS2. As mentioned by anttoo before, CM9 is just for testing purpose right now. If you can compile all bug that you've encountered to CM team, they can improve it a bit better.

to experience the ICS right now, revert to Galaxy Nexus!! i've heard the phone got a cool video call!!
*
I think CM9 has less bug than this Sammy's stock ROM. doh.gif

I played with the video call (Talk v4.0.3-239410 (330)) that augments my facial features. lol, funny, but also sucks juice like mad.

Will revert back to GB, unfortunately no more funny Talk video calls. sad.gif

They promised ICS in Q1 2012. But I think as soon as there's a stable CM9 I'll root and flash it again biggrin.gif
*
I think you can root your stock ROM first with CF-Root. By the time you want CM9, you don't have to hunt for CF-Root for CWM. lol.

You used what telco first?

U-mobile.

Previous 2 shutdown was without sim card, purely on Wifi only.

I ordered directly from Casemate website. Just google "Casemate".
I'm afraid of "fakes" via other online sites because I can see price differences as high as USD10....

And I have clarified with Casemate customer service. There are currently 2 batches of Casemate Tough Case for SGS2. Those with product code CM015700 is the older batch. The newer batch is CM014056.

I'm getting the newer batch from Casemate directly. Including shipping to Malaysia, total cost is about RM134.

I totally agree, most user don't even know they can update their roms let alone care about doing it.

Oh you mean fakap developer in that manner. Well its true there are alot of kang roms on xda. Thats why I only use roms from ori android developments or roms from android developments that have been heavily themed. Themeing takes alot of work and effort especially if you design all the icons yourself.

Just ignore those kang developers and they will go away.....

From urban dictionary

To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding.

No idea man... I think there's only fine line between adapting other people's work and copying.

I mainly refer to those who cheat (saying that they've done a lot of development although they didn't) and ask for donation / sponsor

Dunno what rom is that tongue.gif .

If you ask, get permission first and give the proper credit then its not stealing lor. But if you take and change the build.prop, put your name in it without getting permission then its stealing.

Jus like when u buy a new car. Some may want to mod the car & some like stock standard to maintain warranty. Some like to root their devices & some prefer stock reason being only 'for day to day use". Custom roms
are usually not stable, buggy & laggy. Official versions are always stable and that why worth the wait.Jus my 2 sen..

Wow, modding analogy is a bit different, cause it cost money.

Flashing custom ROM is free. biggrin.gif

When it involves money, everything is so different.

Hi guys, just share with you on my earlier sudden shut off case.

The fine line gap there was the period of phone off, totally can't power on. That period was about 60 minutes. Then I charge it while phone off (using PC USB) until I power it on and it showed 40% on the status.

Meaning that my phone was forced off at around 40% of juice. hmm.gif

Will revert back to GB to see if it's in fact ICS problem or battery (AP set) problem.

EDIT: Recalled another bug on stock ICS. Word selection on web browser (or maybe other apps also) is faulty. Press and hold on a word, it highlighted the word correctly, but the handler (the 2 points) are actually placed somewhere else. Hence you are not copying the correct letters.
