I think he meant for his wife. Not for his going-to-be-born child.

Mmm...both are not good for pregnant women...
Actually anmum or enfamama taste sweet means it have sugar.
A doctor said to me, better take normal fresh milk and do take supplement what the doctor give to her.

I've heard from some experts saying that those well advertised milk for pregnant mum cannot be consider as the best. They're just investing big money to produce convincing advertisement so that consumers will have the mindset of "oh this brand is the best because it came out on TV" ...

In fact it is not really good for the mummy and the baby .. I remember that is what I've been told.. Best getting advice from doctors or experts..

I just remember I saw it on a Taiwan news, and they claim that those branded milk powder such as Anmum, and stuff will in fact have some minor negative effect .. I remember there's some health product which will give you a healthy baby ~~ do some thorough research smile.gif

Agreed here, fresh milk + supplements would be best. If your wife cannot take fresh milk due to taste then adding tea/chocolate etc would be acceptable. Fresh milk is not UHT milk btw.

My wife took enfamama since start of pregnancy till delivery.
Then since we have been taking vitamin supplements all the while, we just continue taking it.doctor say can continue with no worries.

Tried a few sample from doctor, at last ots enfamama and enfalac(purple can 1).
Enfalac during midnite.less sweet. Enfamama during day time.

Calcium and iron folic dont neglect ye..

If you think that ur wife need some extra supplement, do take it. But have to remember too much also nor gud for her health and baby. My doctors stops my wife medication ,eg multivitamins and anmum ( just take it occationally only) since the baby already overweight on her 6 month of pregnency. After 6 month, my wife didnt take any supplement, just normal eaing habits only... So its depend, if you wife so skinny u need to take calsium.

Just think it like this, the olf last time no use any supplement, and yet they live longger. We everydays took suppliment, die young...just dont overdo it..

Hi Bro,

Fresh Milk + Vitamins + Fish Oil with lots of Omega 3 will be the best for both Mother & Baby.

This will not only keep the mom in good shape but also the kid. I recommend you look for Omega Mum in pharmacy. Full spectrum vitamins are the best ask the pharmacist to recommend. Fresh milk you can get from hypermart smile.gif

Iron, calcium and protein are the main nutritions for your wife for 1st 3 months. 4th-9th months focus high amount of calcium. Omega oil for baby brain function. VitaminE can help prevent yellow when the baby deliver. You do not need to feed any milk to your wife because those milk are from animal, best for the animal but not human, what we need is proper food intake and good source of supplements. Pm me anytime if you need more info.

No powder milk is best compared to Breast milk. The kind of milk you give to your child either powder milk or breast milk has nothing to do with the gas effect on your child. The gas is because babies don't have perfect seal of their mouth when they take they feed that is why babies also ingest air with his/her milk. That is the reason why you need to burp your baby every after feeding..

I didn't drink any milk powder throughout my pregnancy. My gynae said no need as those contain sugar and is not so healthy. I drank a lot of fresh milk though. Fresh milk by Dutch lady and Gooday as so far only those two I see has stated 'cow's milk' as their ingredients. The others like HL has other ingredients in the milk. Apart from fresh milk, the only supplements I took is obimin and folic acid given by my gynae. Vitamin C too.. At times. Haha..smile.gif

These milk are not recommended (from experience and reviews) for mums unless the mommy is really thin and malnourished...Healthy diet is the best...If u don't believe, can try, her weight will probably increase very fast...

Obimin is enough...plus healthy diet...

Honestly, I hated the taste of those milk for mommies sad.gif

I got so many boxes of free milk powder from a friend working in Nestle during this pregnancy but gave all of them to my DH's Burmese worker's wife (she's pregnant too).

And guess what? When she wanted to give birth 2 weeks ago, her baby was too huge, about 4kg, and the doc suggested c-section... I kinda feel guilty for passing her all the milk powder you know...

If you must, take it once or twice a week. Don't make it your daily beverage (I think it'll be too much!)

Plus, you're taking all the supplements such as Folic Acid, Iron, Obimin, etc. That should be enough.

i did ask my gynae on this before. he says these milk are actually formulated to substitute your meals if you have problem eating. otherwise there is no need to take it daily. perhaps 2 or 3 times per week is more than enough.

your gynae will have all the samples for you to test... just take the one you like best.

p/s: my gynae gave me enough sample to last for my whole pregnancy.... anyone in mid valley can collect for me if you don't mind, cause i don't really drink it.

my conclusion from reading this thread:
nobody here has any facts or figures at all to show which brand milk powder is best for mothers.

for me, i narrowed it down to anmum or enfamama coz these 2 specialize in maternal milk and are the most widely accepted to be the best.

i ultimately chose to give enfamama to my wife simply coz enfa are widely believed to be the best milk for babies so my logic is that they would be equally good at making milk for mothers. the price being more expensive than anmum also indicates their confidence in their product being better than anmum. this logic is very loose, i agree, but not having any facts or figures to work with, this is the best way for me to make a choice.

no one solution (milk or supplement or else) that suit everybody, so you have to find one for urself.. most important is do not take over dose / or drink too much milk or eat too much supplement.

there is no real necessity to take milk during pregnancy. At the same time, it aint wring to take one as well. What you need if Vit D and Protein; hence with all the fortification milk, with Vit D and high protein had become a choice to many.

What can we do if the Abbott gainplus 3 that I bought smell "strange" and "oil" even though it is still within expiry date. My 32 months old daughter also don't want to drink. Some more it is 1.8 kg raincoat around rm100. I normally buy 2-4 cans.

IINM, it should be which is suitable for your wife. some mothers-to-be maybe suitable for brand A and not brand B, while some maybe suitable for brand B and not brand A.
let your wife try a few brands. if ur wife tried brand A and stomach ache or cirit birit something like that, meaning that brand is not suitable for ur waife and future child.

i hope this help.

While I agree with what you mentioned, I think the milk or brand compatibility with the mother-to-be is something to be expected periodically. Case in point, my wife was taking Anmum without any issue for the first few months but she suddenly suffered from diarrhea a couple weeks which was resolved by stopping the Anmum intake. She tried again a month later with no issue & is still taking it to this day. biggrin.gif

I started drinking Anmum when i planed to become pregnant. I took twice a week before pregnant and once a day for the whole period of prenancy. I did that because i hoped my baby got the best nutrition from the first day it appeared in my uterus .....this was my own thinking don't know it work indeed. biggrin.gif .Anyway all my three kids are clever and healthy.

You can also try for Shaklee products.

My wife is taking them.

Got a lot recommendation from F&F.

Especially the ESP soy milk.
It was claimed that it can enhance the productivity of your breast milk.

If you have allergies with milk or frequent vomitting, you can try the Shaklee Meal Shake. It can regain your appetite.

My wife has gone through this.

Every month we order a canister of ESP and 2 canisters of Meal Shakes with vanilla flavor.

:-)
