If this is the case then I strongly recommend restoring your iPhone 4s first (clean restore) which would require you to download the firmware files from Apple and doing the Shift + Restore before embarking on the Absinthe jailbreak. A huge restore file would take a long time to jailbreak as the exploit the dream team is using is via the backup/restore injection vector.

My iPad 2 was super fast as well but that was because I had to upgrade the iPad 2 to 5.0.1 from 4.3.3 and it was really kosong as I set it up as a new iPad 2, jailbreak and then restore the backup.

My Apps were not synced though so had to manually synced them after the backup restore.

yup.. same thing.. I was on 4.3.3 on the iPad 2 as well.

I guess it is advisable to first restore your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to iOS 5.0.1.
This way, it will fasten up the jailbreaking process and at the same time avoid some unnecessary complication during jailbreaking.

the part where I hate the most is the part where it starts to sync back all the apps.
It takes forever if you have a lot of apps vmad.gif

probably a wise choice by the Dreamteam to release the Mac version first cause they know Cydia server will be hammer hard for at least 2 days... if they release Windows version as well, the server gonna burst... sweat.gif
*
nola.. I don't think they actually think of that.
It so happen that they were making the jailbreaking effort on a Mac biggrin.gif

just turn on VPN? wat about those settings? wat to set ya?
*
Don't bother about the settings. Just turn it ON. It will eventually prompt error and Cydia will come out after that.
At least that's what they say biggrin.gif

I would advise to go for iOS 5.0.1
Connect to iTunes and restore to iOS 5.0.1
