Okay, I have never posted anything on this forum before, and I never thought I would but I really need some opinions and help on my problems.

1. I bought a Wii from Singapore about two years ago, I bought it because it was the 25th Anniversary Mario Edition (the Red one) and when I asked, they said it could be played in Malaysia (That's where I stay) without any problem.

2. Recently, I bought some PAL games from UK, (I never bought or played any other Wii game that was not included in my console), but after doing some researching, Wikipedia told me that Malaysia and Singapore were under PAL region, so I thought that it would be okay to buy some games there.

3. When I checked my wii to see whether it was PAL region (by looking at the games to see whether it had PAL or not), there was nothing to be found and sure enough, my Wii couldn't read my disc. I don't know if my Wii is from US or Japan, probably US :/

4. At first, I considered modding my wii to play all regions but I still want to update my wii and I don't really want to mess with it that much. I also considered buying a PAL wii since my friend would be going to the UK soon.

5. But then, if my console is a US version, I have been playing it without the use of a step-down transformer for a year! Wouldn't it cause a power surge due to the fact that Malaysia has a higher voltage? I really don't want to burn my house down. I know that there are several cases where it happens

All these problems are nigging at the back of my head. And I really really need help on solvnig this problems.
I really am against modding my Wii at the moment though. But I spent quite an amount of cash on the UK games :/

So my questions are:
1. What should I do with my situation? Buy a new PAL wii? From where?
2. Is it safe to use my Wii? I'm now unsure if I'm jeopardizing my family by playing it now >.<

Malaysia and Singapore is ntsc. same as America. Europe U.K. Australia is pal. but why you don't check your manual in your wii regardless on where you brought? you said you brought your wii in Singapore means is a 220v so you don't need to step down the voltage. even if the voltage is higher the only damage you will cause is the adapter, won't harm the wii.

i have no suggestion to you whether to buy a new wii to play your pal game or vise versa.

Where are you staying?
Indeed our region from the start, even our tv in Msia and Sg are PAL hence the voltage is 220v. But for video games, we are running ntsc, following the US and JP.
Since you bought ur wii from sg, im guessing they already provided you the 220v adapter.

most likely, i would say sell the game off. unless you are going to stay in UK for long term.

I now work in the UK so I can give some advice:

UK Wii games can be really really cheap (3DS as well actually - I got SSFIV for 10 pounds and Ghost Recon for 12 pounds - both brand new)

You can sometimes find second hand Wiis in the UK for about 50 pounds but you'll have to be quick to get them at that price. Basically, 50 pounds is the lowest price it'll ever get to for the near future.

UK Wii games are expensive if bought at launch but if you can wait a few months, most titles can be had for under 20 pounds. Have a look around ebay.co.uk, play.co.uk and amazon.co.uk for a better feel of the prices. I just saw Zumba Fitness 2 bundle going for 26 pounds on the Play.co.uk sale. UK retailers have sales throughout the year with the best sales coming in summer and winter so you can stock up on games then. One of the best prices for a Wii game I've seen was 4 pounds for Madworld. As I write this - Blockbuster UK is having a sale of their 2nd hand games - 3 for 12 pounds including free delivery.

Another hot deal was for the Black UK PAL Wii bundle with Mario Kart Pack Plus (•Wii Remote •Wii Nunchuk •Wii MotionPlus •Black Wii Wheel •Mario Kart) and Zumba Fitness 2 for116 pounds at an online retailer called The Hut

You can use Hotukdeals.com to keep an eye out for hot deals on uk wii games too.

Bottom line - I've really found that UK games are cheaper than US ones.

Yeah..Well..Everything was looking pretty good for 3DS until you started to consider the region locking on 3DS.
Shit sucks so much when I have JPN 3DS and now I'm studying in UK. lol
