Hi, just installed astro with 10mbps package in Penang. No complain on the download speed but the upload speed is quite low around ~5mbps sad.gif.

Also It seems like pixelation is frequent when viewing HD channels. Is this normal?

The given Cisco router E1000 wireless coverage is quite poor. Planning to change to a gigabit router later. Anyone has any suggestion on a decent gigabit router that is compatible with TIME ?

slid3,

I'm using Apple Airport Extreme with no problems. All you need is the PPPOE username and password and you're good to go. So basically any wireless router should work, it all depends on your budget.

Yo Kobian,

Apple Airport Extreme is dual band wireless router + NAS right? Good stuffs man drool.gif . I will probably go for budget TP link . Short of money .... Thanks for the info though smile.gif .

Hi Bro,

Upload speed is a known issue lately, please do launch a report to the customer service. By right, Upload speed should be more or less the same as the Download speed simply bcoz fibre uses different wave length (λ) for bidirectional communications (WDM technology).

May I know which condo are you staying ? There are some known condos which are currently having this issues which havent been resolved by TIME.

Besides, there are also possibilities that your bandwidth are not sufficient to cater for HD. This is absolutely NOT normal.
There are some causes to this problem :
1) Fibre Connector / Cable problem.
2) ONU problem
3) Astro decoder problem
4) OLT problem (which rarely happens)
You should be given E1200 & not E1000. Anyway, E1200 is NO any better than E1000.

Basically most of the Routers are compatible.
Budget wise, TP-Link WDR4300 (N750) is worth a consideration, or WDR4900 (N900).
You can go for better ones such as Netgear WNDR4500.
If you wanna go for 802.11ac, Netgear R6300 or Asus RT-AC66U.

Yo Bro,

Thanks for the detailed information. Staying at the Spring. I will give customer service a call if things dont improve.

I will probably go for WDR4900. Others seems to be out of my budget and WDR4900 is ond of the cheapest N900 router around.

Btw dont think the 11ac router is worth to go for now as the standards is still not mature yet and the price is sky high...not to mention need to change the adapter to 11ac compliance to fully utilize the performance?

Btw bro you working for TIME?

Hi sifus,

I need advice here. I have signed up for astro iptv plus 10mbps Time broadband early this year on one year contract. But next month I will be away from Malaysia for about 3 months with noone at home.

Can I ask Astro/Time to on hold the service for this 3 months and prolong the contract? Pls advice.

Thanks. ps: I will give a call to Astro sometime this week to ask about this as well
