QUOTE(Xiia0Ban @ Feb 25 2012, 11:52 AM) If compare with N16 and dir615, there is still a visiible big improvement right? wifi coverage and internet connection stability? BIG difference.Btw my unifi is down now, pandan indah area. also, i have another question: i currently have my Unifi setup (modem and router, minus hypptv) in one room. i want to place my Hypptv box in my living room (where my TV is, obviously). I currently have an Asus RT-N12B1 running on tomato firmware in Wireless Ethernet Bridge mode near my TV. so far this setup works very well with my BD player and PS3, but when i connect my Hypptv box to it, it couldn't connect to the server. all other devices work fine. what can i do to solve the problem? |

QUOTE(klseet @ Feb 25 2012, 02:56 PM) Exactly what FW version are you using? i'm on .96 FW. can FW versions affect uplink/downlink speeds?? i have not encountered any issues with wifi, etc. just very bad upload speeds. (see my speedtest results in my previous post)I've just updated last night, try to use either FW 3.0.0.3.84 (from official site) or .74 (from my site) The latest .94 & .96 has some issues, including vlan.600 broken & wireless issues (might be driver). I personally prefer .84 for now. will homeplug LAN help bridge my iptv to my router? (i live in a condo, so should be single phase) any recommended brands that are compatible? |

QUOTE(soonwai @ Feb 25 2012, 07:59 PM) Homeplug will do it. I have my ONT and router upstairs and use Homeplug to bring the IPTV down to the living room. I'm using the 500mbps one from Aztech. Works well. I think the cheaper 200mbps models should suffice as well. Whatever you do don't get the Aztech MediaXtreme 1Gbps ones. They tend to lose connection and people say they overheat though I didn't use them long enough to notice it. nice...thx. although klseet did say .96 FW cripples the iptv, rite? so i must downgrade to .84 or .74??EDIT: .102 has just been released. damn...asus is fast. hopefully klseet can try it out to see if the problems are solved. then i can upgrade instead. QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Feb 27 2012, 01:29 PM) This is unknown yet. From previous Unifi press statement, they are still working on the options that may include paying more for extra download volume as alternative to speed reduction. I would prefer able to choose my option instead of reducing my speed to 512kbps. looking at the history of TMNET, a bandwidth cap is more likely to happen. their business model is not like YES or P1. charging customers who use more data will only make them look bad. |

i'm trying to setup my IPTV using the following items:
1) RT-N16 running on 3.0.0.3.84 (and also 3.0.0.3.102) FW from Asus 2) 2 x Aztech 500mbps Homeplug The setup: RT-N16---->Homeplug A---->Homeplug B---->IPTV Settings: 1) STB port is LAN4 (regardless of FW used since already set by default.) 2) "Enable multicast routing" is ON 3) Connection between both Homeplugs are working. All 3 LED lights are green. Internet is working when i use my laptop via ethernet connected to homeplug. Conclusion: IT'S STILL NOT WORKING!!! IPTV can't connect to server. P/S: IPTV worked the first time when TM guys came to setup my Unifi. but now modem + router is in another room, away from the tv. klseet did advice to downgrade to .84 firmware or even .74 (didn't try it yet). but it still doesn't work. Any advice?? cheers. This post has been edited by deathbringer: Mar 1 2012, 12:17 AM |

QUOTE(soonwai @ Mar 1 2012, 12:21 AM) I think probably "Feng Shui" is causing it. Probably Master Yap Cheng Hai ask him to put an aquarium somewhere in the path of the radio signals. Aquariums = WiFi router worse nightmare. nope, it wasn't working back then. but that was because i wanted to use wlan to bridge them, not wired. But seriously, my neighbor's DIR-615 located in the downstair's back room of the his house performs pretty well. Signals reaches up to the front gate. Only place in my house where I can't get his signal is in my master bedroom toilet. Added on March 1, 2012, 12:25 am Did you get the STB working with the Asus router before? Just to confirm it's not the STB, can you bring just the STB and connect it direct to your router? If it's working, it should show a channel number. If not, I think it shows "INIT" or something else. i've tried connecting it directly too. it's still not working. This post has been edited by deathbringer: Mar 1 2012, 01:02 AM |

QUOTE(jolmy @ Mar 4 2012, 07:04 PM) For landed property, yes you can as UniFi is provided to you via a separate cable (fiber optics). i live in a condo and still use my current number along with my Unifi (aloing with the new number that Unifi provides). although i do not know if this has cut my upload speed in 1/2... If you stay in high-rise condo/apartments, then NO, as UniFi is provided to you via the existing telephone cable. |
