TM system seem late or misconfigured.

I also get the same Thanks SMS early in the morning.

Which i clear more than 1 week ago.

Today noon, receive another SMS and Email.

"Your February bill is available, please logon to myUnifi Portal for viewing and payment"

sometimes you wonder, are they really try give customer this impressions.

"Thank you for your payment, Ok, now please pay again."

at least now not sending debt collecting agency to collect the on time "PAID" payment like last January.

That really will set you off.

I on the TVBox yesterday, and it slows down other activities like surfing, etc, some sites i surfed even got error.  Off it and solve prob.

If upgrade to vip10, will it help? Can I limit the TVbox's cap / rate? if yes, how?
*
There is a separate 8Mbps bandwidth channel (VLAN600) for your IPTV while your Internet access is at 5Mbps (VLAN500). So, watching IPTV should NOT cause your Internet speed becomes slower.

But if you do face the problem with lagging Internet access while watching IPTV, very likely it is the router! It's well-known that the router provided by TM is not good enough to handle a large number of packets especially when watching IPTV, hence, the slowdown is probably caused by the router.

Perhaps, change to your own router (find one that supports UniFi with IPTV such as TP-Link TL-WR841ND) can help!

what about my soluton? ur solution nice but need to buy new hardwares... and is not cheap
if @47ronin want solution and no spending money then my solution... he already got the wrt54g and others.. (except giga switc i think... which i already suggest him no need buy)  rclxms.gif
I asked the question if the hardwares he listed are existing... I did not get a reply to it initially.

If they are existing and if the plan is to keep using them, then no choice but to live with all the other equipment.

Like they say, you can't have the cake and eat it. A simple and better solution in the longer run is to upgrade to the RT-N56U. That is not carved in stone and remains as a mere suggestion to simplify the network and get the best network performance money can buy.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Feb 17 2012, 04:00 AM)
The answer is no, the n56u is not worth RM450 in any case.

But I surrender, OK, you win. I offered a solution and you did too. It seems that your solution is better.

Sorry, 47ronin, looks like you will have to spend the money for the Asus RT-n56u and entirely redo your diagram. Hope you have enough ports to plug things in and no plans for using VPN in the near future.

I'm gonna go read a better book.

ps: jchue, you should really really go read the thread again. I wasn't stepping on you because your solution was not as good as the others.
LOL For your info, I gave a suggestion and got shot with the rich parent thingy. Sorry if you think I stepped on your shoes.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Feb 17 2012, 07:12 AM)
i have used both RT56U and 1043ND  not everyone rely on their parents.

i tell you for those keep saying rt56u overprice try to use it at least once then say it. The range of the wifi coverage is awesome and even at low signal the signal is strong unlike 1043ND when low signal line become unstable. The wifi i tested can cover until the opposite site of the road without issue. The place i put the router asus rt56u it handle hell alot of concurrent connnections at least 50 wifi computer connected for network printing, internet browsing and network transfer its so stable no crashes and lost connection. Doesnt mean it doesnt meet your feature means its overpriced its only overpriced if you do not know how to utlize it cheers
+1 I guess sometimes you try to give advise but people put it down because they talk as if they have used the item before. Anyway, it's no loss and we don't get a single sen by promoting the Asus. biggrin.gif

http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wi...router-reviewed

RTN56U is indeed a great router with all-in-1 solution.
However, for my need, to spend an extra 450 & to let the existing equipments (WR841ND, WRT54G) laying around for me is not cost effective for the capex.
Ok. Understood. If I were you, I'll try and sell the other stuff if it's possible. But then again, that's just me.

QUOTE(47ronin @ Feb 17 2012, 11:08 AM)
In term of opex, electrical consumption for single equipment is lower than multiple equipment. Hence further analysis need to be done on total electrical consumption per annum.

If [RTN56U all-in-1 solution + average electrical consumption] <
[(RTN16U + WR841ND + WRT54G + switch) + average electrical consumption],

RTN56U is definitely the choice.
In all honesty, I don't think you'd be chalking up a lot of electricity bills running those equipment 24/7

Just some very rough estimations...

Asus RT-N56U - 19V x 1.58A = 30W

vs

TP Link TL-WR841ND - 9V x 0.6A = 5.4W
Asus GX-D1081 - 12V x 1A = 12W (Just pick a normal 8 port Gigabit switch)
Asus RT-N16 - 12V x 1.25A = 15W
Linksys WRT54G - 12V x 0.5A = 6W

Total = 38.4W

8.4W extra is not much. Extra RM 1.23 more per month (if you're on the 1 - 200 kWh per month tariff) or RM 1.89 more per month (if you're on the 201 - 300 kWh per month tariff) or RM 2.26 more per month (if you're on the 301 - 400 kWh per month tariff) than if you use the RT-N56U.

So power consumption wise is not much. For me, i would see the gains in terms of less clutter (more simplified) and better network performance going with the RT-N56U.

No worries and why in the world would you need to apologize for asking a valid question.

May I ask why you planned to have a 8 port switch?

and what software you used to draw your diagram in your ori post?

8 port? over estimate.

diagram earlier via Powerpoint 2007

want better diagram/ process flow tool? use SmartDraw ---> http://bit.ly/DiagramToolSmartDraw

1 thing about the R56U offers that other wireless router within that price range can do is, concurrent dual radio dual band wireless-N.

Of course you can use multiple AP to solve this problem, which will introduce more clutter.

I do agree that R56U is overpriced, but for the features it has, its good for people who are willing to spend for it.

Anyway time to retire the R56U, make way for R66U tongue.gif

My crimper until now haven't arrive. Dunno sesat go where doh.gif

E2000 linksys router can be used for our unifi or not including IPTV?

No, bro. In retrospect I'm the one who should be sorry. I sincerely apologize to you for my sarcasm & the things I said or implied.

If I could I'd offer my hand for a shake. But since we're behind our PCs, would you FTP to my server? That would be a handshake, TCP wise.

As for the root cause of all this, it's all 47ronin's doing with his question and PowerPoint diagram! I think it's time we gang up on him. :-)

*
More ram means the router can have a bigger connection table, more firewall rules, more queues and rules for QoS, more features running like BT clients, download managers, file servers, etc.

IMHO the most important is the connection table because this one is very dynamic and can grow out of hand very fast especially when using BitTorrent or there are many concurrent users. That's why you see cheaper routers hang or slowdown when running BT. Just like a PC when it runs low on mem.

However more ram also needs to be complemented by a faster CPU otherwise the router cannot keep up with all the connections.

Routing to which host? I'm getting usual 10 hops to my webhost in the US. 7 to twitter.com. 6 to cloudflare SG.
Route looks the same to me. Pings are high though 200-300ms to the first two, 15ms to SG.

What IP are on? I tried both 175.139.x.x and 210.195.x.x. Routing looks identical.

But speed seems to be fine here in Sg Long. Where r u?

I'm getting connection timeouts to my shell in US. Confirmed the server itself is up and running - others can access. Connections to a server in Korea are also very slow. Last week was getting good speeds (same ip, did not disconnect).

110.159.*

Also every single filehost I try (rapidshare, etc) I get 10 KB/s or timeout after a few mins.

In TTDI now.

What a coincidence, I was at TTDI shophouses this afternoon. Complain to TM, reboot router?

But for Rapidshare me also really slow downloading. Quote from jDownloader forums:
http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?p=192566
QUOTE
a) I've tried with browser (Opera Next)... and it is as Jiaz said... rather weird speed throttling technique from RS - the browser stops exactly at 1,8772 MB then it waits about 50 seconds and then downloads another 1,8772 MB wait again 50 sec. etc...

b) Then I've tested RS with Nightly - no connection lost but speed fluctuates from 15-200 KB/s. Unfortunately mostly in lower ranges.... (25-30) - but we know why - see a)

Indeed really stupid technique from RS...
