It isn't that bad. I was using it for a month. It can handle non-stop direct downloads and even torrents if you limit your # of connections < 50. But too many connections (including half-open ones) will eventually slow it down to a crawl and crash the router. I'd say it's works just fine for someone who doesn't torrent much. e.g.: my neighbor's DIR-615 is probably close to 130 days uptime now.
In any case, there are plenty of alternatives from cheap TPLinks to Asus to Routerboards. I'm currently using a Routerboard RB750GL.
