I have been using Unifi for the past 3 weeks. So far it looks great. I am on the VIP 10 package. However occasionally the speed drops to below 1 Mbps for no apparent reason and after that (a few hours later) it is back to normal speed (~ 9 Mbps for download and ~ 8 Mbps for upload) without me taking any remedial action.

QUOTE(josenigel @ Feb 4 2012, 04:40 PM) Hi all, just got my Unifi VIP5 installed this morning. I am happy with everything except my wifi reception. In my room where it is all installed, its great but when I cross to the second room signal drops and eventually disconnects due to no signal That's what U get for free. U need upgrade to a better router it helps to expand the network and best get a wireless n adapter as well if u do not haveOverall, everything is good. Tested D/L a couple of Torrent files with Utorrent and speeds were excellent! BTW I am reporting in from Taman Sri Gombak! |

I'm new Unifi user today, VIP5
Everything went like clockwork, internet, IPTV all working instantly until the voip phone failed the test. Fiber signal tested low and the tech make a new connector for the black incoming cable and everything running smoothly. |

UniFi at my place has been down for a week now... it seems like my whole area Bandar Botanic Klang is having the same problem as i have check with my neighbors and friends in other taman. each time i report to them they call me and ask what's the problem then say network issue and will let the technician know about it then they close my report and make me wait like an idiot with no feedback and result after that phone call.
If there is any UniFi tech here kindly please let me know what exactly is the problem at my place? Looks like Streamyx copper line even it's slow and crappy but it's uptime is way better then UniFi. |

Which precint are you from? Mine was down, on and off for numerous times in between 5 days, reported thrice with same answers, wasted almost RM20 of calls. The worst is when the BTU Optical is on red for half a day. Even is backed online, the IPTV hangs every 15 minutes. So, what is the best resolution when the IPTV hangs? My temporary solution either is to reboot DIR or force off IPTV through the switch. Also, the internet also hangs frequently, I dont know whether is a proper way to keep reboot the session from the router. If there is any UniFi tech here kindly please let me know what exactly is the problem at my place? QUOTE(chan01 @ Feb 4 2012, 04:35 PM) 1) is it possible to maintain the same house phone no. without paying any extra fee? Not possible. You'll get a new telephone number with the Unifi. If you want to maintain your old number, you still need to continue paying Telekom Malaysia the keep the old line / number. So you will have two telephone lines in the same house.QUOTE(josenigel @ Feb 4 2012, 04:40 PM) Hi all, just got my Unifi VIP5 installed this morning. I think your reply is misleading... Yes, Unifi comes with a new phone number but you CAN still keep the old number. Just have two phone lines. One with the new Unifi and the other old line you maintain. Of course you need to continue paying for the old line. Nothing is free.QUOTE(iqa1309 @ Feb 4 2012, 06:57 PM) I have been using Unifi for the past 3 weeks. So far it looks great. I am on the VIP 10 package. Best is to conduct a real world download test. Download using something like Internet Download Manager to reliable websites and download a few files concurrently. Check the total current download bandwidth like tolls like Bandwidth meter. That will really show if your bandwidth is slow and maintained. |

Any wireless dongle will do.perhaps you can try to hunt for TP-LINK brand. Any wireless N 300Mbps is enough. Personally, router will give the main impacts to the wifi signal around your house. |

QUOTE(azizul9736 @ Feb 5 2012, 05:47 PM) uh really. so i just need to find "N" with 300Mbps will do? This is very subjective and very dependent on surrounding. Houses/condo from different area/buildings have different design and slight different in material, thickness of wall or so... All this affect quite a lot on wifi signal. Only when you practically tested them, you get the accurate answer. But if you have good signal, it won't affect a lot. Increase in PING over WiFi is also very very minimal. Perhaps not even 1ms. Download, affect even less. If you find it unstable, limit the number of connection for torrent as some wireless card can't handle massive connections.it wont affect my torrent download or gaming speed? |

Got my installation on 04/02/2012 at high rise. Suppose installation only took less than 2 hours. The technician setup everything perfectly but the wireless router give problem almost 1 to 2 hours cos no internet connection. Technician go back downstairs to the STB room again to test. Everything seems perfect and up as per the technician.
Go back up to my house to configure the wireless router again, but still no internet connection. The technician suspect my unifi password is wrong. Luckily he got other customers password used other customers to configure the router and it work. Damn the technician said !@#$%^$ to the TM back office who gave him wrong password. Now he asked me to temporary used other customer password(account) to use the internet first. Like that also can really Malaysia Boleh land.
