Got my unifi installed on Friday. So far no problems with the stock router.

Only 1 user so far.

Is there any reason for me to purchase a better router?

What's the problem with DIR-615? So far I've no problem with it so why do I have to pay and change it?

are u a heavy downloader? torrenting, gaming?
but if 1 user using the bandwidth i think cool enough to stay with stock router
if u're a heavy downloader, torrenting and gaming, u can change to "aftermarket" router
(crazy la me using "aftermarket" router terms haha)

What's the benefit of those "aftermarket" routers provide compare with DIR615 in term of gaming? Much lower ping?

Nice use of the term "aftermarket" rclxms.gif

Anyways, currently I am a heavy downloader. But my torrents are 99% from private trackers. I don't need to connect to many seeders, since majority of the seeders are seeding from dedicated servers. I'd have more connection to leechers though to seed my contents. So far, for 2 days running, (About 100 torrents being seeded, 9 - 12 torrents being active) there has not been any lockups.

So i should stick with the stock router?

For landed property, yes you can as UniFi is provided to you via a separate cable (fiber optics).

If you stay in high-rise condo/apartments, then NO, as UniFi is provided to you via the existing telephone cable.

VIP5 user here, so far very satisfy with the speed & consistency, wifi all the way. was worry at 1st when all the units installed at gd floor living room. but so far its ok. only a bit worry the white cable from the box outside to the house, so thin and bare... if to run conduit , have to assign IT contractor to do so? bcos that day the electrician came to fix those lights & fan ones...no confident to do that. anyone got contacts?

Noticed that even when torrenting at full speed, my pings are very low. Even lower than my streamyx connection that isn't being utilized at all.

Guyz, I saw today a contractor (Maxis Broadband s/b) working on the fibre optic. Saw the sign stated more like "pemasangan gentian optik".

Is the the unifi will come soon on my area? Basically what's the estimated duration that we can start subscribing the unifi?

Thanks.

Anyone facing any slowdowns? Suddenly my speed went really bad. My unifi computer is in PJ while i am in seremban. RDPing to my unfi computer, i found that I couldn't even load Google / speedtest.net .

Afraid that the bandwidth cap has been enforced?

Added on March 5, 2012, 12:53 amEdit: Restarted the router and the speed is back up. Weird :S
