Do 3100kv is enough for drift or I should replace it with 4000kv motor? Also the drift angle much easier to maintain with locked rear drift right? Currently not lock yet & the car tend to get out of a drift. Also I'm noob which one of the reason. I should lock the rear diff before messing with the gears (ratio) right?

Finished. I'm still learning how to drift. I'm suck lol. I want convert to RWD too but based on the info I gathered for HSP, little modification needed like need to move motor mount to top-center. Removing either the front dogbones or center drive shaft or both is not enough. It just want to spin instead of drifting. I read that is because the front is heavy.

I use hsp flying fish converted to RWD for reference. The reason I use 26t pinion because they use high teeth count pinion in their RWD drifter. However they use "proper" motor which is build/marketed for drift. I have max10 and g2 4000kv motor. I did fitted 21t pinion currently. I know RWD is difficult to drift but a noob should be able to get some drifting right? Mine just want to spin at any throttle input. Also I can't find anyone documented what they did when they convert their hsp flying fish to RWD. The best I can find are videos in Russian. I was like should I remove the front diff too to lighten up the front? The way my drifter behaves like the front is too heavy.
No I don't use gyro. I'm still fine tuning my drifter. I didn't touch ackerman yet.

Actually you just need to shift the weight to counter the back portion, if you actually look at the fact that lots of R/C out there going out for bashing are 2WD at the rear like 2WD off-road buggy and monster truck.  They can race, speed, corner and etc on 2WD and yes the can drift on dirt to easily.  You just need proper throttle trigger and timming to get it right.  Here i have a snapshots of my 2WD buggy drifting on dirt during cornering.

I try to avoid gyro. I even turn off gyro in my Traxxas Stampede because I don't like it. I know I can adjust sensitivity but I turn it off altogether.

Thank you, I will set up that. I need to do some reading for RWD setup. Looks like I need to change a lot of things for changing from 4WD to RWD.

I used gyro on my mini 1:18 scale truggy because small models is quite twitch on off-road.

Bee-tee-doubleU, for ackerman I need to modify the steering link right? Am I correct if I said the toe link need to be in angle shape for the desired ackerman configuration to achieved?

I still have my Mini-z and also the Firelap but i don't have spare donor. Yet i don't play much because i don't have proper track to play around and MR02 diff gear always worn out hitting tarmac debris outside home.  I would recommend you to get Wltoys K989 which is more durable and compatible with any mini-z projects.

Did you know that 1/12 scale 12428 actually is same size as 1/10 scale in term of wheel base size.  You can actually put 1/10 scale Rally car body shell like SUBARU IMPREZZA and race with your full scale buddy or drifting and having plus advantages with supple suspension system off-roading. 

Yes i know, i have the early version before it rebranded into Yellow 12428.  Mines is red color here.  Its indeed fun power racer and does wheelie.  Actually there lots of parts and hop-ups mods available for 12428 on the market.  Just look under FY03 mods.
I've turned my FY03/12428 it into FPV racer.

For camera i use zip tie too and a bit of hotglue to stick the camera permanently on the seat servo, quick setup and works great.  I use cheap micro size 808# 16 HD keychain camera with FPV output to video transmitter.  The hotglue acts like rubber damper to reduce the vibration.
