Do 3100kv is enough for drift or I should replace it with 4000kv motor? Also the drift angle much easier to maintain with locked rear drift right? Currently not lock yet & the car tend to get out of a drift. Also I'm noob which one of the reason. biggrin.gif I should lock the rear diff before messing with the gears (ratio) right?
*
How's your drift project going?
why not go down the RWD route. most RC drift cars nowadays uses RWD setup.

Finished. I'm still learning how to drift. I'm suck lol. I want convert to RWD too but based on the info I gathered for HSP, little modification needed like need to move motor mount to top-center. Removing either the front dogbones or center drive shaft or both is not enough. It just want to spin instead of drifting. I read that is because the front is heavy.
*
I suck at RC drifting too. do you have gyro in your setup? RWD drift cars always uses gyro.
have you look into your ackerman setup?

I use hsp flying fish converted to RWD for reference. The reason I use 26t pinion because they use high teeth count pinion in their RWD drifter. However they use "proper" motor which is build/marketed for drift. I have max10 and g2 4000kv motor. I did fitted 21t pinion currently. I know RWD is difficult to drift but a noob should be able to get some drifting right? Mine just want to spin at any throttle input. Also I can't find anyone documented what they did when they convert their hsp flying fish to RWD. The best I can find are videos in Russian. I was like should I remove the front diff too to lighten up the front? The way my drifter behaves like the front is too heavy.
No I don't use gyro. I'm still fine tuning my drifter. I didn't touch ackerman yet.
*
try to use gyro. RC4GS receiver got built in gyro yo. set up your ackerman also
QUOTE(SupermotoXL @ Jul 7 2019, 08:16 PM)
Actually you just need to shift the weight to counter the back portion, if you actually look at the fact that lots of R/C out there going out for bashing are 2WD at the rear like 2WD off-road buggy and monster truck.  They can race, speed, corner and etc on 2WD and yes the can drift on dirt to easily.  You just need proper throttle trigger and timming to get it right.  Here i have a snapshots of my 2WD buggy drifting on dirt during cornering.

That Pan-car look nice. Too bad it is expensive though. Thank you for the info btw.
I try to avoid gyro. I even turn off gyro in my Traxxas Stampede because I don't like it. I know I can adjust sensitivity but I turn it off altogether.

Thank you, I will set up that. smile.gif I need to do some reading for RWD setup. Looks like I need to change a lot of things for changing from 4WD to RWD.
*
gyro is essential for drift RC. I dont use gyro for any of my offroad rc. still noob though haha

I used gyro on my mini 1:18 scale truggy because small models is quite twitch on off-road.

Bee-tee-doubleU, for ackerman I need to modify the steering link right? Am I correct if I said the toe link need to be in angle shape for the desired ackerman configuration to achieved?

I still have my Mini-z and also the Firelap but i don't have spare donor. Yet i don't play much because i don't have proper track to play around and MR02 diff gear always worn out hitting tarmac debris outside home.  I would recommend you to get Wltoys K989 which is more durable and compatible with any mini-z projects.  flex.gif
*
devil.gif just wondering if you are willing to part with your mini Z. harga kawan2. devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif
need some parts for a project laugh.gif

I already have the k989. where do u live? there's a track in puncak jalil. I always play there

top is my k989, bottom is my brother's atomic AMZ

Just finished building my VLB, any other Lunch Box owners in Malaysia?

It's been on my wishlist for ages.

Had a Tamiya Astute second hand when I was a teenager, glad to finally be able to afford this fun machine.

Got plenty of mods in mind wink.gif

guys, i'm a total newbie to RC

is there any RC car <RM500 that you will recommend for a newbie?

or really must spend >RM1k to start a hobby?
*
hey man, have you bought your RC? if you are in selangor. PM me. let's bash together icon_rolleyes.gif
a friend is selling his HSP kutiger rally with brushless combo for RM500.

if you want to play RC. you need to watch lots of videos then decide on what you want.
my first almost true RC is 12428. smaller version of the 10428. love it to bits but I bash it too hard until people also dont want borrow me their kits after seeing what I do to mine. not that I am a great basher. I am just too noob at this laugh.gif if you like the 10428. just get it,man thumbsup.gif
I recommend it over the 12428 because you can use vaterra parts.

mega_shok.gif anyone have any idea on how can I put rear sway bar for the 12428?

Did you know that 1/12 scale 12428 actually is same size as 1/10 scale in term of wheel base size.  You can actually put 1/10 scale Rally car body shell like SUBARU IMPREZZA and race with your full scale buddy or drifting and having plus advantages with supple suspension system off-roading.  rclxm9.gif
*
nod.gif
12428 is a rock racer. the solid axle will cause torque twist.
this kit loves to one wheel wheelie everytime I give it power.

I had similar idea with the 124012 but it seems like the model didn't take off. parts also not a lot.

Yes i know, i have the early version before it rebranded into Yellow 12428.  Mines is red color here.  Its indeed fun power racer and does wheelie.  Actually there lots of parts and hop-ups mods available for 12428 on the market.  Just look under FY03 mods.
I've turned my FY03/12428 it into FPV racer.  flex.gif  rclxm9.gif

I've tried using yi cam to hook up with my outcast. had to end the video early because the ziptie just gave way. the camera wasnt mine.
dont want to break it lmao

sweat.gif my 12428 need about rm100+ to fix now. have to make way for outcast repair first. sweat.gif rclxub.gif

so what type of rc car you are interested in now?
do you like scale?

example of rc car type:
touring car
drift car
pancar
rally car
trophy truck
short course truck
monster truck
buggy
truggy
rock racer

many types to choose from flex.gif
common brands in your budget:
WLToys & Feiyue: parts can last quite a lot of abuse. parts are cheap.
HSP : play within its limits and it will be fine. parts are even easier to get.
WPL : they make crawlers AFAIK. if you like to sit down and tinker with your RC. they are worth it. get the kit and build it yourself icon_rolleyes.gif
Himoto : cheap yet small. not as durable but lovable to race

Nice R/C track u got there.  biggrin.gif
For camera i use zip tie too and a bit of hotglue to stick the camera permanently on the seat servo, quick setup and works great.  I use cheap micro size 808# 16 HD keychain camera with FPV output to video transmitter.  The hotglue acts like rubber damper to reduce the vibration.    flex.gif
