Hi guys, just thought of the fibre optic cable for UNIFI.. lol did not do it earlier and now already started to paint the house totally cannot whack the wall d..

any idea to minimize the visibilities ? can I pull the cable from porch up to the master room then enter via existing aircond hole (no aircond on yet) and to my study desk ? cox i do not want the PVC cover to walk around the living hall so ugly at least walk in my room still acceptable (no ppl see ma)

question is;

1. Is this possible ?
2. Will the connection at G floor be weak ?

Thanks guys

It coming in from behind of your house not from front.
you could drill hole go through your guess room (Grd floor) and stop at your living room.
Or from behind go direct to your 2nd Floor Bed room (2nd or 3rd room).

While most of the Telekom's cabling (Unifi & Streamyx) are coming along the back, however in some housing areas, they are still from the front.

If you place the PVC casing along the corners of walls or at the skirting, this could minimise its impact.

You need to find out where is the junction box. Is usually on the back of your house.

Than where you want to put the IPTV (for me is useless, nothing to watch)

can open up the down lights to get access. Worst case, just cut the required opening and after that, patch up the hole.

Not sure but neighbor told me it comes from the front for UNIFI and streamyx come from the back lol...

Actually I've done all require hiding for the phone line as initially planning to use streamyx, but now only realize streamyx is only 4mbps where else Unifi add Rm10 more can get 5mbps.. further more company is paying for my internet fees so thought of taking 10mbps.. (my gf donwload movie like mad woman) and sometimes i need to do conference call with oversea client that is why company is willing to pay for the unifi.

Then problem now my house started to paint.. now faster call unifi ppl come pull to roof masuk plaster ceiling, drill 1 small hole come out from plaster ceiling ? but it will still have a pvc cover from ceiling down to the routter or wat ever the machine is call... hmm still dun get it pening rclxub.gif

no need to pening over small problem la... smile.gif
just the small PVC casing. run it along the corner/ behind your curtain (if your Unifi is coming from the front) paint the casing same colour as the wall. Won't notice much... biggrin.gif

DIY my rear surround speaker wires using PVC casing along the corner of my living room. Photo attached. the casing is hardly noticeable if you know how to treat it ... hahaha

Ask them come, they can suggest you the best location. You need to pay them for extra length, and hacking. Don't expect good plastering quality from them.

Plaster ceiling is easy to say than done. You need to have access to the back for the Plaster ceiling to be able pull the fiber over.

You should see a TM / Unifi fiber box. If its in front than cable will come from front. If its back it will come from back.

As long as you have not shifted in to the house, most of the problems can be solved. Else you will get hell from HM for the dust & mess created....

For plaster ceiling, as long as you have space above the ceiling for access, should not pose a major problem. tongue.gif

Not easy to access unless you have manhole made. Downlight hole can't do much.

If wire pull inside the roof, is much easy.

Added on January 13, 2012, 2:00 pmIf really want to conceal, simple, but bit dusty. Get a diamond cutter make a small cutting so the fiber can be fit inside. Than use putty to seal it back.

Quite true. If pull inside the roof will be very very much easier as the person can go inside.
But even without any manholes, just by using only access from the down light holes, also possible.
Have managed to pull my rear surround speaker wires above my living room plaster ceiling with less than 6" space above. Just need to be patient... smile.gif

Depends on your cable routing. If no need to pass thru any wall or there is already an opening for the cable, then no need to drill

Some condo use Copper for unifi. You need to check your area.

for low rise apartment/condo will use FTTH. So require drilling.

For example, my apartment is low rise apartment and i'm at 4th floor which is using FTTH and need drilling.

Where do you want the Unifi terminate? That will decide how the wire run.
