Updated my BIOS to the bleeding edge, set my BIOS to AHCI, detects the drive fine. The drive is also detected fine in Windows, however if I go to Disk Management and try to initialise it it tells me there is an I/O Device Error. The only thing I've found concerning this drive is that the controller is dead. Anyone care to hazard a guess what else it could be?

Otherwise what's the best SSD you can get in Malaysia now?

The flash NAND lifespan issue is still irrelevant at this time. There are reports of people being able to write petabytes to an old 40GB SSD - more data than you have written since your birth. I wouldn't worry about it and I intentionally abuse my SSDs to spare my HDDs.

Startec selling Mushkin Chronos 120GB SSD around RM490. Its pretty much cheaper compare to other Sandforce-2281 controller(Ocz Agility 3, Corsair Force 3) on the market.
