Hi Bro,

RB750 is a router while RB250GS is just a switch, so you still need another router if you are getting RB250GS.

Yes, we have some Maxis users using our Mikrotik router! smile.gif

Hi Bro,

This router is just a wired router, so it does not allow wireless access. If you need a wireless router, please take a look at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2103847.

Otherwise, you need to get an AP to attach to this router.

Hi, I am looking for a device to replace my Maxis Fibre Thomson router. I see that this device can do so. However, my purpose of change is to setup a harddisk database. The current Thomson router only can support FAT32 which limits me to 4GB file transfer. Can this device support NTFS? Is there a USB3.0 port on it or is there a way to connect a hard disk bay to it? Can this device be configured to the router?

Hi Bro/Sis,

You have to format the HDD using MikroTik before you can use it, its file system can support our 1TB HDD but we haven't try even more yet, unfortunately it's only a USB 2.0 port. We can't say anything about HDD bay as we never try them, but it should work if you can use it on your Windows computer without extra driver and you will need power injector like this, http://routerboard.com/5VUSB.

The latest major version of RouterOS, RouterOS 6.0 is out of beta and officially released now!

QUOTE
MikroTik RouterOS Version 6 Changes
Here is a list of some changes and improvements for RouterOS v6

• A new linux kernel is used (version 3.3.5) which enables us to use the latest drivers and support most of the latest hardware
• Simple queue mechanism is improved to greatly benefit setups with hundreds or thousands of Simple queue rules
• Simple queue performance on multicore systems is improved significantly
• Latest v6rc3 adds more Simple queue optimizations, Packet flow is slightly changed as you can see in the diagram below
• v6 also features fastpath feature - a mechanism of packet flow shortcuts to massively improve data throughput, currently this feature is added to simple setups, like routing, bridging and mpls, but in future we plan to enable fast path for more complex features, such as Firewall
• Fastpath is also supported for MPLS traffic since RouterOS v6rc3
• RouterOS is now made 64bit for TILE architecture, that is used on our new Cloud Core Router devices (see article on page 1), giving ability to use 16GB of RAM or more

Hidden Feature - Cable Diagnostics

The ability to detect cable problems has now been added in RouterOS v6rc3 and newer releases.
RouterOS will tell you:

    • Which cable pair is broken
    • At what length the cable is broken
    • How the cable is broken - torn or shorted

This works on SXT-G, RB711G, RB2011, RB750 series and other devices with the same switch chips, and also the new Cloud Core series devices.

I have 3 connections at home. Unifi, Maxis 3G and Celcom 3G. Each have their own WAN interface. I see this device have 5 ports. Can set 2 ports as LAN for connection to switch and AP and another 3 ports as WAN for the above connections before shipping? I would like all 3 WAN to work together. Can combine all 3 connections as 1?

Your intended setup is not a problem on MikroTik, you can turn any ports into WAN port and load balancing between them.

However, load balancing setup is our paid services, please check the PM from us. biggrin.gif

I want to load balance 2 WAN:

1. Unifi 5Mbps with dynamic IP.
2. Maxis Business Fibre 4Mbps with 1 Fixed IP.

Can I load balance the 2 ISP and always maintain 1 fixed IP (from Maxis) to connect to outside world?

Which model can do this? Please PM me price of router and setup load balance fee.

Thanks.

Hi pyrite,

The main purpose of load balancing is to distribute the outgoing connection to different WAN link, if you are not intended for that, you can make MikroTik to connect to both ISP and do some policy routing to always stay on same link for outgoing connection. The policy is very flexible and I believe it can do whatever you can think of. biggrin.gif

This feature is supported by every MikroTik router, so you can free to choose the model according to your network size and other requirements.

Hi epsonstylux,

The wireless signal is determined by a lot of environment factors other than the router, such as physical obstacles and RF interference. I suggest you to find out the problem first before you replacing your router.

This is considered an enterprise or advanced router with many carrier grade features, people like it because of affordable and stable. biggrin.gif

Hi Cloud,

Am considering to swap exisiting UniFi router (TP-Link - due to connection keep dropping / not able access webpage at 40% of the operation) to Mikrotik RB750 / 750 GL after see the good review. I am worried I cannot handle the port forwarding setup for my exisiting CCTV (DVR) link via free dyndns & IP Camera (set in TP-Link, which look more user friendly interface). It is important & main concern of me before I make my mind get RB750 or RB750GL as replacement.

Looking forward your proffesional advice, does free technical support for CCTV / IP camera port forwarding setting in Mikrotik? What is the best price for RB750 & RB750GL courier to Klang Valley?

Thanks.

Yes it can, but this requires the support from the service provider too, some service providers restrict their account to be used on VPN router.

You can find what VPN MikroTik can support at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Category:VPN.

Hi edwardomh,

In short, it doesn't support Yes and other Wimax connection. However you can make it work by bridging it with Wimax modem. smile.gif

This model is fairly old (2010/2011). Is there no newer higher-spec version?

Hi, I need your opinion..

Situation:
-currently i'm using crappy L7 TM router for Unifi 30Mbps..
-now got approximately 15-16 wifi devices (phone, laptop, PC, ipad, TV & smartbox) that connected to my router..
-but not all devices connected at the same time..
-only 10-12 devices connected at the same time..

Requirement:
-stable wifi signal for 15 devices connected simultaneously..
-strong wifi signal for 2 storey house..
-able to set guest wifi SSID (need to set max download speed)..
-QoS is a bonus..

can you suggest me which one of these routers RB951G-2HnD or RB750GL?? Thanks notworthy.gif

Hello efariz,

RB750 series is wired router, no wireless access, so your choice will be either RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN or RB951G.

Kindly check PM from us for details.

hi, can enquire about RB750GL.. when you say it supports Maxis Fibre, does that mean the VOIP and IPTV function still works? I would require VOIP and IPTV to work as well.

Currently using the crap technicolor shit maxis gave and it SUXXXX.... restart almost everyday.. i already have a ASUS AC66U to take half the load away(Static IP as WAN fromTechnicolor, All users get IP from Asus Router... Only IPTV and VOIP on Tecnhicolor.) but it still crashes everyday..

Thx in advance.

Hello Shaney,

It's very easy if you follow our guides, we can send you guides to setup for UniFi, HyppTV and other basic stuffs. smile.gif

Sorry that we are unable to comment on other brands but MikroTik is very popular with its higher performance at same price level.

Thank you!

Hello fongkeeyik360,

You can get RB951 or hAP series from us. In order to keep the VOIP, you will need to keep the Thomson router to act as VOIP gateway and MikroTik will handle all the Internet.

Hello fongkeeyik360,

Both Thomson and BTU do not need to be configured, you only need to config MikroTik to work with them. You can view the guide at http://wingloon.com/2013/09/28/how-to-setu...gateway-tg784n/.

Hello fongkeeyik360,

You can get any MikroTik router from us, then you need to keep your Thomson router as VOIP gateway.

MikroTik - Internet
Thomson - VOIP

As such, you can keep your VOIP service which having the best Internet performance out of MikroTik. biggrin.gif

Thanks.
