Hey, is it safe to update your xbox to the newest version using the USB method ?
I can't connect my xbox to the internet for some reason, so i want to update offline so i can play skyrim ~
Is this method safe to use ? it will not connect online, right ?

Copy to a USB flash drive

If you cannot connect your Xbox 360 console to the Internet, you can copy the console update from your computer to a USB flash drive and then install it on the console.

Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.

1.Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2.Download the update file.
3.Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4.Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
5.Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive.
6.Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7.Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8.Restart the console.
9.When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.

Pls reply ASAP, i really want to play SKYRIM rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

why dont you give it a try and close this thread. Anything that is legal works. Get an original copy of skyrim to play

Like what andrewcha said, pop in the disc and it will ask you to update from there if necessary, you don't need to online.

As long as your console is legit, usb or wifi/lan will work no matter what. Just don't turn off the console while its updating.

USB is fine since that's what I do every time. Updating online is slow as crap. Downloading directly from MS website is way faster.
