With a budget that high, you should consider more established brands like the Huawei Mediapad or Zenithink Zt-280 which runs the amlogic A9 processor.

Capacitive touchscreen is quite standard on most RM500++ tablets sold in the market now.

For GPS support, the zenithink zt-280 has a build-in gps chip but you would need an external antenna for it to work.

This one

http://www.zenithink.com/Eproducts_Z102.php

Zt-102 or Zt-280 they are the same model running on amlogic A9. they quoted resistive screen but I believe its the newer generation of resistive touchscreen that has multi-touch support like the iphone. It should be comparable to capacitive screen

C91 and C71 does not come with GPS

sure, go ahead..

Added on February 13, 2012, 9:30 ami found the u9gt2 is preferable compare to vi40, especially from the user feedback in china website and forums.

Added on February 18, 2012, 2:03 pmfinally i bought the Cube U9GT2 for my 1st tablet...
it is a china brand (www.51cube.com). After months of comparison and review.. i decided go for this brand and model, although the spec is lower than onda vi40, but the negative feedback of vi40 is much much higher by the china users compare to u9gt2..
i got it from my fren in china at the price of rm820 compare to 1000++ to buy in malaysia.
Need to take the risk of warranty lo smile.gif

Hopefully I will post some reviews and user experience to share with you after i get it..
Thanks for all your feedback and answer for this thread..thanks

sorry that i was quite busy recently and didn't post any review here.
so far i used, the PRO of the tablet are:
1. large (same size as ipad2) to read and play games
2. good support from Yuan Dao and Cube, frequently get new firmware update (surprisingly, firmware from either N90 or U9GT2 can be used for this tablet and works well.)
3. responsive multi touchscreen
4. camera so far so good, so so quality 2.0mp, but better tan Ipad2
5. by using firmware, you can simply increase the RAM to 3GB, but your storage will reduced as well. Important if you used A4.0 ICS
6. the storage is large enough (16gb)

Cons:
1. lagging sometimes
2. short battery life ~6hours with wifi on
3. Android 4.0 - can't move the apps from RAM to SD card
4. Android 2.3 - need to use physical buttons to home or back (but this can be resolved by installing Button Savier 1.41, you can get virtual buttons on screen)
5. low volume even set to high
6. not yet test the video playback and quality
7. quite heavy to carry while reading or playing games, ur hands will feel tired.

Great review. I was thinking of getting the Cube also but there doesn't seem to be any sellers in Malaysia. Onda vi40 also looks nice but prices have been going up a lot recently.

Just wanted to ask a quick question. How do you find using the Cube to read pdf's, ebooks and/or comics. Main reason for me to get a tablet is because I think it's easier to read than on an LCD screen.

i found seller here, but the price far too expensive, it was somewhere at 1000 - 1200 in lowyat and lelong. fortunately i can get a cheap one from china. risk of warranty lo..
u can simply installed a cracked apps expdf reader to read pdf, comics, epub...no worry
the size of this tablet is just nice for reading book..

but ipad2 price is dropping to 1200 now, might consider it again.

Tumpang tanya, if want to transfer files from PC to Ipad - easy or hard? Seems like very hard.

All my files are PC based - movies, comics and pdf, dunno whether easy to transfer. Seems like USB port also cannot use? True?

to revise my review of the Cube U9GT2, just after flash with new firmware:

50s to turn it on..

Cons:
1. lagging sometimes
2. short battery life ~6hours with wifi on
3. Android 4.0 - can't move the apps from RAM to SD card - it is solved now by flashing with the new moage 4.35 firmware
4. Android 2.3 - need to use physical buttons to home or back (but this can be resolved by installing Button Savier 1.41, you can get virtual buttons on screen) - ignore this if using Android 4.0
5. low volume even set to high
6. quite heavy to carry while reading or playing games, hands will feel tired.

Hehe... don't poison me-lar ... I'm trying to avoid tablets for a while cos' I think prices will go down once they solve the shortage of IPS screens.

But... can't resist.... blush.gif

How much did it cost you overall i.e. RM800++ just for Cube or did you manage to snag other goodies as well i.e. kickstand keyboard, sd card, cover etc.

Hehe... thanks for the info. Looks like there's about 20% profit margin for bringing back these tablet back to KL. Can let me know why you decided the Cube over Onda vi40?

Anyway, Onda Vi40 selling for about RM900 right now, so it's even more expensive than the Cube @ current prices.

i read a lots of review of these pad online, especially the feedback from the china forum. And I just found that the negative comments of Onda Vi40 are a lot, such as:
1. 5MP camera looks like 2mp
2. short battery life
3. poor quality of the design

bla..bla..bla

Hey, thanks biggrin.gif

You seem to have put a lot of due diligence into this. Wow, the feedback from the China forum is so negative. From the English sites, I visited, it's quite the opposite. That's really strange but I guess the China forum is more reliable. blink.gif

Man, anyone here manage to have a look-see at the Ipad3? I really wonder how much better is the display compared to Ipad2?

Can our eyes really see the difference at such high reso? Seems a bit of an overkill to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think it's worth paying such a premium for some 'slightly' better visual screen.

Yah tempting but I heard you can't transfer files from PC to Ipad direct. Have to upload to the Internet via drop box.... sad.gif

BTW - Is it easy to transfer files and create folders for Android tablets?

yes, u can easily access to the android content by using RE explorer of android.
Maybe the ipad apps are more attractive and fun than android, but i still prefer android after playing it and get a very reliable firmware for my android now.
the moage 4.3.5, the best ever i used / flashed.

In most cases, their local (China) market gets the slightly worse quality ones, while exported models get better quality, hence the difference in feedback.

Hey ericmaxman,

What do you think about china tablets? Can they withstand constant use? I plan to use it heavily as an e-book reader and video occasionally. Will they conk out quickly?

The price differential between the China tablets vs. Iconia/Transformer is pretty steep.

So how does the branded tablet (Windpad, Viewsonic, Asus, Acer) compare to the Chinese brand one? You think better?

I kena 'poison' already. Eager to get one, but still undecided between Acer W500 (windows mah) and China Android brand one.

Although buying from China is cheaper, are you sure it's a good idea? If there's problem, you can't really claim warranty when you factor in the shipping charges. Further, there's a lot of dodgy on-line sellers, so you need to be careful.

I'm also like you. There's quite a no. of vendors in Garage Sales as well as Lelong, so you can check them out. COD is possibly the best method. There's a bit of mark-up but I think fair-lar, for support and warranty claim + overheads.

Yep, we're thinking of buying at the wrong time. There's quite a huge shortage at the moment, so prices have spiked up quite a bit for tablets of 9-10 inch size.

There's 3 choices, mainly:
1. Cube U9GT2 is probably the most reliable, though not the best specs. Downside is that it's quite expensive, almost RM1.1K on Lelong.

2. Onda Vi40 16gb is the next best model. Specs are even better than Cube but there's been some complaints about it on the China forum. It's selling for about RM880-900. Now that's pretty ok for seeing as iPad 2 is selling for RM1.2K, you might want to think.

3. Zenithink C91 1gig RAM - this is the cheapest 9 inch but its' width is less.... Both cube and Onda vi40 is 1024 x 768 resolution but this one is 1024 x 600. Cost about RM680. Only 1 seller is selling the latest model with 1gb RAM.

I haven't seen the physical product yet... but I'll most probably go for 3. If buy 2, might as well go for iPad2? brows.gif

Don't worry, new stocks are coming in soon - wait for 1-2 weeks at most.

hi guys..i would like to sell off my cube u9gt2 tablet now, anyone interested at this 2nd hand unit (2months old), and I will give the leather case together.

as you read from my previous post, i bought this for my son to learn, but the android tablet has too many buttons, and seem like not suitable for little kids to use. he keeps on mis-press the button and get out from the apps.

** please take note that there is a scratch near camera (1st pic), it was originally found when I got it. The tablet is in good condition, never dropped at all.

You will get (pic5):
1. Charger
2. USB cable
3. OTG cable (to plug ur USB device, such as pendrive)
4. manual
5. leather case
6. ear phone (never used yet)

if interested, just PM me...

This is the photos of my tablet:
