Currently i'm using PC PSU to power up my car amp and pc speaker, please refer to the thread below.

My Thread

From the pic, you can see i actually fed 12V to the amp by ATX 4pin connector (CPU).

So far the setup is running fine, and no overheat issue also (touch by hand the casing temp is like in shut down mode),
but noticed the +12V voltage is drop to 11.3V (no load 11.7V) during heavy bass/drag bass, i checked others unused 4 pin Molex 12V, the voltage is constant.

My question is:

Can i short all the 12V (yellow) line together, so that each rail will provide equal current to the setup, so that the voltage is more stable?

Thanks in advance. notworthy.gif

its Vdrop = Voltage drop.

maybe u can put VS to make sure clean V supply.. if not,go buy true power gold 80+ to power ur amp. :-)

I think you need a big capacitor to handle those heavy loads... If you see car audio setup before, some people have a big bottle shaped round or square cylinder thing... that is a big capacitor to store reverse power for those heavy bass moment when the speakers draws a lot of power to drive the speakers/woofers....

short all 12 v (yellow) together precondition is make sure the current won't be too large to burn amp. not sure your amp loading rating.
cap theoretically stablise or filter spiky , just make sure u get the large enough ones to do it.

won't try if amp is expensive.

IMO u can put all unused 12v rail together to power up ur amp...

ur car amp can stands up to 14v and aroud 40amp of power supply.

check ur voltage and ampere after all 12v rail combined, if ur amp can stand, than go for it
