I would think by now if nothing happens on the phone, you would already have restarted the phone. Did it boot to 2.3.6? If not, repeat the process again.

Don't blame it on the Note. Blame it on the telco trying to go cheap by redirecting it to their cheap VOIP lines.

I have no experience with S2 and the Note is my first Android. I would agree that one hand operation is quite hard to do even with big hands. Even receiving call can be tedious. Assuming you're not on bluetooth, taking out the Note from your pocket, take the note out of the case (assuming if you have one) and trying to accept a call with one hand is quite cumbersome. It's more easy with a smaller phone.

I believe the banding problem affects some phones. Are you already on 2.3.6? I haven't fully tested out but my brief playing with 720p files using DicePlayer does not have any blocking anymore on dark areas.

What app is that to access the battery tutorial?

For others, this desktop dock charger is not a Samsung original device. So don't be fooled to pay a lot for it.

Unlike the one bought by Uncle Benny, the Samsung original one will only charge your spare battery but will not charge the phone. There's a slot to hold your phone though but it will not charge the phone.

That is important for me. If Nexus was more superior or had a bigger screen than Note, I would still take the Note because of the SD card. That is why it's a no no for me on Ipon.

RM 90 is not bad. Not Prada quality but build material is fine.

You upgraded to 2.3.6? What program you use to open photos? Stock app for camera?

At the moment I'm using the Samsung original lip pouch and interchange it with PDair's VX1 slip pouch. I have the Samsung original flip cover. It's very slim but I've not used it extensively yet.

Can you test both at the same time? With another friend using Ip4 using the same telco calling the same phone number within few minutes of each other?

I use my old Sony Ericson charger that is 0.5A and it charges properly.

Do you what voltage and ampere the charger is charging? Perhaps charging current too low?

Yes.

I choose not uninstall the original one from the phone. When you navigate, it will ask if you want to use the one you installed or the original one from the phone. Just click on the new one.

I thought you just bricked your phone trying to upgrade the firmware? Why would you need to change hardware?

Good catch. Water proof and water resistant cannot be used interchangeably.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like what you're trying to do it to accelerate the process of running in the battery by "forcing" more current in.

Two assumptions... From your findings, either the default battery cut off is too conservative or the battery can actually put more amps than advertised. If I could afford the phone being off, I would drain the battery to complete 0%, switch it off the phone completedly and charge it with the Samsung 1 amp charger. After 2.5 hours, it should cut off theoretically. Perhaps somebody with a desktop charger would be able to do this "test" better to actually gauge the actual capacity of the original batteries.

Welcome. I am also a newbie to the Android community. I think if you're a newbie, you should just relax and enjoy the fantastic phone. It's fantastic as it is in stock form. Read up on what are the recommended apps that people would install on their phone and check if that is what you want. I feel as a newbie, flashing and rooting takes up all the time of being able to enjoy the phone more intimately. If you're already a long time Android user and get bored fast, you can go ahead and flash / root the phone. There are risk but it's minimised if you know what you're doing. Just be prepared to take loads of time troubleshooting the phone whilst that time can be used to enjoy the phone. To each it's own.

I rather try to explore what I can do with the phone and getting accessories that the phone can use.

Yeah, interested to know how people with diary type of case for the Note carry theirs... It's nice to look but for me, impracticle to carry as a mobile phone which you would put in your pocket pants.

Forgot to mention that I got the Invisibleshield from US. Arrived quite fast. The packaging is huge and it's so new that it does not have any markings to indicate that it's for the Note.

Thanks for the info. After I saw the message, I went home for a while during lunch this afternoon and updated my Note via Kies. All in all, it took less than 20 minutes (18 minutes to be exact). Starting from downloading right down to reboot.



One thing that was constant with the previous update was that I had to take out my 64GB memory card before I could update. If not, no go.

Haven't really played with the phone but first impressions are good. Feels a little more snappy? Placebo effect perhaps?

My phone is stock and not rooted. All other data remained unchanged and not loss after update.

Anyway, just sharing something which I think it's the most fantastic to date for the Note.

As far as I can recall, it has always been like that.

You need to update Kies on your PC to the latest version.

Of course if you don't have one, you should be fine.

I think 2GB card is still fine. Things start to get a little cranky when you insert a 64GB card.

As for battery consumption, I did notice a little more than usual for the normal things I go.

What SD card do you have?

1) No problems. I play and stream from my home server via Wi-Fi connection. Recommended to get Dice Player.

2) Don't expect earth shattering sound. For best experience, get a decent earphones.

3) So far no. I think only old apps will display their contents smaller on the Note's screen.

Don't think it's true. The Wi-Fi sleeps when the screen is locked but not all the time. No idea at what intervals. I still get email notifications etc when my screen is locked.

I believe the Wi-Fi connection is switched on everytime you unlock the screen. It makes it seem like the Wi-Fi is only switched on when you unlock the screen and asleep at other times.

Your Note wall charger charges at 1A. USB 2 from the PC only gives half of that at 0.5A. Of course it takes double the time to fully charge your phone.

So Petronas is not good enough for F1 then?

Anyway, how is the sensitivity of your Nexus with the SP?

Yes. Look on Ebay. I got my original one for RM 50 including free shipping.

3rd party ones should be cheaper.

I think USB 3 will only give the rated 0.9A current charging if it's connected as USB 3 and not when connected as USB 2 device in which it will revert to 0.5A just like a native USB 2.

It's cheap alright. But I don't think it's Samsung original. Looks more like a 3rd party one.

No worries. If the one firestonez posted is original Samsung, it's definitely VERY cheap. Even if it's a 3rd party one, it's still cheap.

If you look at the scale of the mini USB connected to the phone and compare the size of the grey HDMI connector, the size cannot be mini HDMI.

Sorry for late reply. The HDMI cable used is a normal HDMI cable used for your LCD TV. Nothing special on the HDMI cable itself. The Samsung mini USB to HDMI adapter makes it look complicated.

The reason why it looks like there's 2 input is because one is from Note's mini USB and the other is power input. You cannot get any image displayed on the TV if there is no power input.

I have used them before and it really protects your external original casing. The application of the skin can be a nightmare though. If you like to use your phone "naked" but still protected, this is the route to take.
