I rooted in 2.3.5. If I upgrade to 2.3.6, do I need to re-root again ?

Sorry, don't understand. Current using stock 2.3.5 and rooted. If I upgrade to stock 2.3.6 by using Kies,
do I need to re-root again ?

After reading, understand XLA1 can't be rooted and need to downgrade to DXKK1. For this case, since I'm already
in DKK1 rooted, should I directly flash the rom to DXLA1 ?

1. My understand from your blog, I don't need to downgrade or root since current already DXKA1 and rooted.
I just need to proceed flash to XLA1 firmware by using ODIN. Correct me if I'm wrong.

2. Instead of using Mobile Odin, I can using Odin for destop right ?

If you use odin in PC flashing those prerooted deodexed roms will increase flash counter and possibly yellow triangle at bootup. Flashing original stock rom will not. If you still want root use mobile odin. Flashing stock rom on odin will wipe your root. Like i say just follow my blog post

How about if from Setting > About Phone > Sotware Update > Update ? This will wipe phone and root ?

If this is the case, since currently I already rooted under 2.3.5 then I will just using "Setting > About Phone > Sotware Update > Update" to get me to the latest firmware 2.3.6 right ?

1. You using OTA to upgrade to 2.3.6 ?
2. and your root on 2.3.5 intact ?
3. and your phone data not wiped ?

If this is the case, just wonder why in this forum suggested many difficult way to get our GN phone updated to
latest firmware. I might want to try this approach later. The worse thing is I lost root.

The result is positive !! Previous root remain, phone data remain, no wipe.. just simple and easy way to get our SGN updated to latest firmware 2.3.6 using OTA.

ya, just wonder why in this forum not recomended such way.. and in fact make everyone confuse how to upgrade
to latest firmware with many fancy thing..

I just learn today... hope my following sharing will help you to get your
GN upgraded to latest firmware - 2.3.6

If your current firmware is 2.3.5 and is rooted, then you just need to
update to the latest firmware 2.3.6 through OTA (Over-the-air) by
Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Update.

This approach will not wipe your phone and your previous root will
still maintain.

Above approach also applicable if your existing phone not rooted and just want o upgrade to 2.3.6

If your current phone is not rooted and under 2.3.5 and want to upgrade
to latest firmware, then better you get your phone rooted under 2.3.5
then upgrade to 2.3.6 through OTA.

Yes, no issue. Tested titanium backup and root explorer no issue. The phone just function like normal.

Use the simplest way..
