Yes if you have updated through KIES officially to KL3 than you need to downgrade back to 2.3.5 first
I rooted in 2.3.5. If I upgrade to 2.3.6, do I need to re-root again ?SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE™ | V6, Thread closed. Please continue to V7.

Added on January 27, 2012, 10:41 pm If you use odin in PC flashing those prerooted deodexed roms will increase flash counter and possibly yellow triangle at bootup. Flashing original stock rom will not. If you still want root use mobile odin. Flashing stock rom on odin will wipe your root. Like i say just follow my blog post [/quote] Hi master, if I interprete your message correctly, if I flash stock rom will not increase counter. For this case, I'm flashing stock rom, so should not be affected, right ? About using computer ODIN to flash DXLA1 will not wipe my data right ? |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 27 2012, 11:07 PM) Flashing OFFICIAL stock rom will wipe root and wipe phone. Counter will not increased Hi Uncle Benny, is there any way flashing to latest stock rom without wipe phone ? You can aways restore your stuffs from Titnium Backup. Butthan if you use odin PC to flash, you cannot have root n CWM anymore unless downgrade back. So if you want these root/CWM back, follow my blog post How about if from Setting > About Phone > Sotware Update > Update ? This will wipe phone and root ? |

QUOTE(ogiveyakuza @ Jan 28 2012, 12:50 PM) since urs is rooted, how bout update to 2.3.6 using mobile odin...it will keep ur root, however if u insist on update it through ota, u will lose ur root..n to root it back, u need to revert back to 2.3.5..so, my suggestion, update it through mobile odin. Wait, I'm confused now. My previous question is, current I'm rooted, if I'm using "Setting > About Phone > Sotware Update > Update" to upgrade 2.3.6 and will it wipe phone and root ? Your answer to me is "NO", mean it will not wipe phoneand root if upgrade through this method "Setting > About Phone > Sotware Update > Update" right ? |

I just learn today... hope my following sharing will help you to get your
GN upgraded to latest firmware - 2.3.6 If your current firmware is 2.3.5 and is rooted, then you just need to update to the latest firmware 2.3.6 through OTA (Over-the-air) by Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Update. This approach will not wipe your phone and your previous root will still maintain. Above approach also applicable if your existing phone not rooted and just want o upgrade to 2.3.6 If your current phone is not rooted and under 2.3.5 and want to upgrade to latest firmware, then better you get your phone rooted under 2.3.5 then upgrade to 2.3.6 through OTA. Hope above help. This post has been edited by invest2229: Jan 28 2012, 04:14 PM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 28 2012, 04:26 PM) That is good. Can you confirm your rooted apps can work. Having superuser remain does not mean it is still rooted Yes, no issue. Tested titanium backup and root explorer no issue. The phone just function like normal. Many users fail to upgrade ota n need backdoor methods to upgrade n have root n cwm installed[U] |
