*
I chose RocketROM.

Dear Benny,

Need help i just downloaded the latest OS from Kies. The downloading is ok and installation reach 100% but when my phone display "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" and things were fine for few minute. after that on my computer screen it's display "Lost Connection, Please Restart" so should i restart my phone ? i'm confuse.
*
Better download the Stock ROM so that you can save later for any re-flashing required.
Do not update directly from Kies.

I highly recommend substancer version of KL7
*
I have just installed this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416192

Is this the one, benny?

Question: What's the best practice whenever after we installed the CUSTOM ROM? Did you Restore (from Titanium Backup) Apps + Data or Missing Apps + Data or...etc..?

Correct
Choose restore missing apps. Never choose system apps as it will overwrite new rom files
Choose system data if required Deselect all n selectively restore data only for certain apps eg touchwiz you can restore back your previous settings
*
Every time when I restore my S Memo data, the sketches which I have drawn are not properly restored (meaning it looks invisible but when I press the sketch, I can see the sketch and need to edit/save again to see the whole sketch back)... Not sure why...

Rooting allow you to install map with navigation in malaysia!
Custom rom that i'm using now Rocket Rom V15 has 14 toggle button.
look at the print screen.

personally i like the extra button data, airplane, and lockscreen (disable lock screen when i use the original flip case) swipe on the toggle bar to the right to see more of the buttons.
can directly go to their individual setting by long press.

on custom rom, got slower slow speed. stock is 200mhz, custom rom is 100mhz.. when the phone is idling on custom rom, save battery juice.

next is under volting.. after root and custom rom, can undervolt the CPU voltage.. but i haven't test it out yet.
*
I flashed AbyssNote kernel Powertweaks) but it didn't have that extra Toggle button like RocketRom.
So - how is it possible to have that tweaks while maintaining with my current custom Rom?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424401

He has also since lastnight updated his rom to v1.2 on latest firmware LA1

DONE FLASH IT RR V17!

will observe it tomorrow  biggrin.gif
*
Damn! I have just installed V16... and now I have to Download V17...
I think I will just stick to RocketROM.

Question and Request to Moderator:

I understand the frustration by quite a number of members answering repeated questions by the newcomers and newbies.
I think the best way to is to create different threads for Rooting and Flashing new ROMS.
This SGN thread is to general. Everything goes. Even myself can get lost reading all the mixed questions within the same thread.
What do you think Mods and members?

Mods will surely reject your request. So far it's one thread for each phone model. :-P
That's why SGSII is on V23 already  o_O
*
But SII have its own "Rooting" Thread - http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2068824

I just flash ontop of Chris 1.2 LA1 without any wipe . Will evaluate to assess any bugs
*
Last time when I flashed without any wipe, the SGN goes into Bootloop.
Now, I did a full wipe whenever I flash new custom rom. smile.gif

Compared to ICS, 2.3.6 sure can't compete. I just wonder why my OTA not getting this update as others have... sad.gif
*
Try update the Kies. Maybe it will detect 2.3.6 once updated.

Otherwise, download first the stock ROM and later use Odin to update.

Yes is same
It is good to wipe cache consider it as spring cleaning. It will not harm phone and infact is good step to rebuild all cache during reboot

Added on January 12, 2012, 7:55 pm
Of course you can flash it. You can always flash another kernel on top of it if hou do not like the default chainfire kernel
*
Thanks for recommending Titanium Backup. Without this, flashing ROMS can be a nightmare... tongue.gif

what kind of person? what do u mean by that?

If main usage is browsing Internet, any smartphone or tablet is suitable.
When I meant what kind of person is whether whether yr main usage is for office usage, games watching videos or music.

is it hard to learn how to use it?

If you want a user friendly smartphone, I guess iPhone can be a better one. But Android GNote have a lot more free applications than iPhone.
You can take a look at Youtube videos of using Galaxy Note.
I love its S Pen... biggrin.gif

I bought SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE CASE ZENUS MASSTIGE STRIPE PRINT DIARY LEATHER COVER via eBay.
If I knew there is Zenus selling in Low Yat, I would have purchase it straight away.
How much is it selling the Diary type at Low Yat?
