Hi,

Have anyone ever ordered sofa from the furniture mall at Desa Petaling? It's a very big mall full with furniture shops just beside the Sg Besi hiway, the on with a very big 'Chair' figurine. Anyone have any idea on the quality and service?

I know the place. I've been there before and yesterday but never bought anything cause previous visits just to have a look. I mean anyone every bought something from there? Cause I'm planning to order my sofa there, just don't know how's the quality. The show display, of course, looks nice and feel good.

One more thing I had debated with myself.. Soft and firm sofa (fabric sofa), which one is better for our body?

I'm planning on buying fabric sofa, not leather but I'm a bit scare now by your experience. Mind to PM me which shop over there that sold you their leather sofa?

Go and try if it feel comfortable to your back and bud. Keep the receipt ikea will honor the warranty.

I went to Ikea and sit on their sofa many times. I noticed the foam is a bit soft but when I read online, it's because they use a layer of memory foam. Is that supposed to be good?

IKEA will fulfil their warranty as per stated in the warranties.  As far as I know, for sofa it is a 10 years limited warranty.  You need to know what is covered and what is not in the limited warranty.  Usually the limited warranty covers defects in material and workmanship like Frame, Base, Legs etc.  However the limited warranty will exclude Fixed leather/fabric top and covers, removable fabric covers etc, due to wear and tear.  Same like most local sofa provider which usually give up to 5 years.

My experience with sofas is that it the frame or structure will last a long time, but it is the upholstery like leather or fabric covers that will wear out first.

So not much to shout about in this case.  However if IKEA gives good value, from material/construction/finishing and does not hurt your pocket much, then it is alright.

My suggestion is to go around other shops as well to understand more on the product before committing.

I happened to ask about the warranty. The staff told me the warranty is mainly for the frame and the spring beneath, not much on the cushion and definitely not the fabric. Also asked about the transport fees. They said if after checking and found it's manufacturing problem, then it will be waived. But somehow if they think because anyone stand on the sofa and jump around that caused the problem, you'll be charged.

One thing to note, only the cushion's fabric is removable for washing.
