Templeton Malaysia just launched Templeton Global Total Return Fund in Malaysia...basically it's a feeder fund for US domiciled fund.

unfortunately, it's being distributed by Citibank exclusively now....not sure FSM can squeeze this fund into their platform in the near future.

Bro.. I read your blog yesterday and would say it is interesting and informative. You mentioned that you invest in UT in both online pfatform, FSM and eUnitT. Are you still staying invested in both? or already consolidate into FSM?

Hi Kaka23,

Thanks for visiting my blog....just trying to share info....

Yes, am still invested in both platforms, but i only have AmDynamic Bond in eUnitTrust platform. I tried to switch in from FSM but FSM said cant switch in from eUnitTrust....

when i first invested in eUnitTrust, this platform has some funds that are not available in FSM, but since then FSM has grown so much that it has outgrown eUnitTrust by leaps and bounds....so my investment in eUnitTrust is in so called semi coma status. I want to sell off the AmDynamic holdings in eUnitTrust to close the account, but a bit sayang since i cannot buy it back anymore.

to me, basically PRS is just like normal UT funds, except that you cant withdraw as freely as you want. but the good thing is you get low sales charges for the investment, which in most cases you wont get in UT investment.

so, if you are investing for the long term for retirement purpose, so yes, i guess this is another good channel to build your retirement fund, instead of the normal UT funds.

for me, i will basically reduce some of my RSP in FSM to invest in PRS. currently, the process to invest in PRS is still manual, i.e. bank in $, scan docs and email to FSM. based on what FSM is saying, they will have proper PRS online system by Q1 2013.

i have confidence in HwangIM which focus on delivering superior returns for their current funds, rather than creating millions of new similar funds just for the sake of selling...

for those who purchased Aberdeen Islamic World Equity fund, do you realize that there is a switching fee of up to 1%?

The Fund Manager may charge, but at present is not charging. I think I read that in the prospectus

Yes, page 9

normally when it's stated in the prospectus, it will be charged. i guess one can switch from World Equity to Malaysia Equity.

Most, if not all, charges mentioned in the prospectus are the maximum that can be charged.

The chances are you will be charged less. How much exactly depends on which agency you buy it from.

If you look at the master prospectus from AmInvestment pg 49, it's mentioned that the repurchase/exit fee is up to 1% for AmDynamic Bond. But in reality, any selling of AmDynamic bond fund is charged 1%. This is what i personally experienced before.

So for Aberdeen Islamic World Equity Fund, i guess there will be 1% switching fee.

in the calculation of XIRR of a UT fund, distribution/dividend is calculated as -ve amount or +ve amount?

Totally irrelevant UNLESS u elected to receive the dividends in cash i.e. not reinvested.

With XIRR, u are only concerned with CASH FLOWS and NAV valuation.

ok got it. Thanks. all my distributions are reinvested.
