Central banks in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia could raise interest rates in the second half of this year, said the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), dismissing the likelihood of a rate change anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

"We don't see reasons why central banks should be cutting interest rates. But Thailand, perhaps Malaysia, as well as Indonesia could see a rate hike in the second half," said Sanjay Mathur, RBS' head of economics research for Asia Pacific ex-Japan.

He said the fourth quarter would be an "opportune time" for Bank Negara Malaysia to "normalise" the key interest rate.

Mathur sees Bank Negara, which has maintained the Overnight Policy Rate at three per cent since June 2011, raising the key interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.25 per cent in that period.

Interest rate hike, the guys at FD thread will jump for joy.... laugh.gif

Been adding more into foreign equity lately and also divesting MY equity...

Current holding

1. Bond MY - 10%
2. Bond EM - 5%
3. Equity MY - 20%
4. Equity Foreign - 15%
5. Cash/FD - 50%

Oh, btw, those holding Indonesian bond, the latest Rp 1.5 trillion sukuk offering of at 5.16% fails with 30% undersubscription, investor asking for 6%... ohmy.gif The bonds yields are cracking ahead of possible interest rate rise/inflation..  sweat.gif

Gary? Hmm... new nickname tongue.gif

You can invest in Indo bond through many UT fund offering in MY like PB Indo Balanced fund or something like that. Most EM bond fund also have some of Indonesia bond (last year's hot bond)... so check your EM bond holdings..

BTW Indo Bonds fund returned a scorching average of 17%-20% p.a. returns each year from 2009-2011... last year 2012 was lower at 8-12%... this is due to the government cut the interest rate from 11% to 6% now....

Totally irrelevant UNLESS u elected to receive the dividends in cash i.e. not reinvested.

With XIRR, u are only concerned with CASH FLOWS and NAV valuation.

ok got it. Thanks. all my distributions are reinvested.

Then just ignore them altogether. smile.gif

For my worksheet, I do columns:
Date - Amount - Price - Units

For distributions, I put in the date, NAV reinvested and units received. Leave the amount cell empty. nod.gif

Land & property prices has gone 200% in 3-4 years, inflation is at least 10%, interest rate dropped from 11% to 6%....minimum wages went up 44% last year

Indonesia ran out of industrial land for investor last year...until government have to quickly step in... laugh.gif
