Bro.. I read your blog yesterday and would say it is interesting and informative. You mentioned that you invest in UT in both online pfatform, FSM and eUnitT. Are you still staying invested in both? or already consolidate into FSM?

Hi Kaka23,

Thanks for visiting my blog....just trying to share info....

Yes, am still invested in both platforms, but i only have AmDynamic Bond in eUnitTrust platform. I tried to switch in from FSM but FSM said cant switch in from eUnitTrust....

when i first invested in eUnitTrust, this platform has some funds that are not available in FSM, but since then FSM has grown so much that it has outgrown eUnitTrust by leaps and bounds....so my investment in eUnitTrust is in so called semi coma status. I want to sell off the AmDynamic holdings in eUnitTrust to close the account, but a bit sayang since i cannot buy it back anymore.

Agree with you, will be sayang to sell off AmDynamic. Better don't sell... Unless AmTactical can give similar or better yield, then can sell off AmDynamic.. Haha. But we will only know after sometime, maybe 1-2 years.

it is not a smart move to "switch" from Am dynamic bond to Am Tactical bond Fund. reason being when u sell Am Dynamic bond, u pay 1% exit fee, and u pay 2% upfront fee for Am Tactical.

Templeton Malaysia just launched Templeton Global Total Return Fund in Malaysia...basically it's a feeder fund for US domiciled fund.

unfortunately, it's being distributed by Citibank exclusively now....not sure FSM can squeeze this fund into their platform in the near future.

Mine pulak at 40%++

As I pump in more into equity funds it will go down some more, when it drops to 25% I'd start shopping for a new bond fund. icon_idea.gif

Bro.. let me know which bond fund you will be eying next time?

I am waiting for all my transfer in to complete. Still got few more funds not yet in FSM. So not much of topping up since AmDyamic close for purchase.

I divide my UT portfolio into 2:
(i) Reserves - my excess cash and "reserve funds"
(ii) Investments - holdings for long-term

For (ii), currently only have Hwang Select Bond Fund in mind. Yes its got 1.5% SC, but its solid performance and diversified portfolio attract me. It invests in global bonds but the fund manager actively employs currency hedging tools to hedge foreign currency-Ringgit movements. nod.gif

For (i), I have AmIncome Plus and OSK-UOB Income Fund. AmIncome Plus steadily delivers FD returns at near zero volatility, whereas OSK-UOB IF gives me returns of 4.3% p.a. at very low volatility. thumbup.gif

who is interested on the PRS from Hwang IM?

The Growth PRS will be invested in the Hwang select Asia opportunity fund, Hwang Asia Quantum fund and Hwang select bond fund. But it is for age below 40

Look the the product sheet:
Pro:
Tax relief
0% sales charge
low start up investment from RM100
Cons:
RM8 annual administration fee for PPA
additional 0.04% NAV to PPA, same rate as the charge to Trustee

I'd prefer to wait and see, see how convenient it is to manage our investments under PRS. If its as troublesome as EPF investments in UT, I'd not bother, my tax bracket ain't that high to make the tax savings worthwhile tongue.gif

to me, basically PRS is just like normal UT funds, except that you cant withdraw as freely as you want. but the good thing is you get low sales charges for the investment, which in most cases you wont get in UT investment.

so, if you are investing for the long term for retirement purpose, so yes, i guess this is another good channel to build your retirement fund, instead of the normal UT funds.

for me, i will basically reduce some of my RSP in FSM to invest in PRS. currently, the process to invest in PRS is still manual, i.e. bank in $, scan docs and email to FSM. based on what FSM is saying, they will have proper PRS online system by Q1 2013.

You can use cash to buy in PRS. You have the flexibility to buy in anytime and how frequent you want, just like normal UT. Just that, you cannot "take out" the money before reaching retirement age.
