yes on iPad or iPhone coz u are mirroring it onto ATV. ATV no need do anything

Double tap home button on iPhone/iPad. Swipe to most right and you can see option for mirroring.

yes for ATV2 coz can JB and you can get ATVFlash which has a media player or my personal favorite Plex (probably the best media organizer today). If ATV3 only can use home sharing on your iTunes.

i did but blank screen...nothing to choose. at far left is lock screen and music player....no option for mirror. How???

You mean the atv3 sold in the market cant do mirroring via iphone & ipad? Then what the use of having atv?

For airplay? Mirroring is not a feature in atv, that feature added by the JB community.

Its where u mirror ur iOS device on TV wirelessly using internet instead of VGA adapter.. Something like doing presentation using TV through the iOS device

As for games that support airplay, u need check with the devs themselves.. I know MC3 can airplay

both on same wifi network? if your phone/ipad on 3g network then cannot see.

Ah ha....sorry, i havent bought the aptv. Still looking for gen 2...hehe. i just wondering how does it work...so once aptv switched on...and my ipad is connected to wifi, the mirror function at the dock will appear, right? Tq very much.

BTW, may i know must i jailbreak the aptv in order to mirror my ipad content on my lcd tv? Or aptv3 already can support that?

you don't have to jailbreak to airplay.
airplay is basically mirroring

You can only mirror using iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3.
Other device, you can only stream photo, video, youtube. ah as well playing games. your iPhone, iPad can be the controller.

to AirPlay -

you need either an iPhone 4s, iPad 2 or 3 paired with an
apple tv2 or apple tv3 on iOS5 or later, on the the same network.

activate home sharing. then when u play ur movies or photos, there will be a airplay logo. Click on it and choose TV.
BUt make sure ur IOS is 4.3 and above.
