I also wanted to flash the CM9a, then realised that the h/w acceleration for the videos is not working properly. Once they fix that, I will flash for sure. Still reading the changelogs daily...  tongue.gif

Apparently there's another ICS rom other than cm9 and Sammy, its by a dev called airbus360, looks pretty good, plus camera can take 8mp shots, which is a bonus. I think I'll go for that one instead.
*
Airbus just add what codeworkx that have fix and put it in his ics build, just download cm9 it also can take pics in 8mp biggrin.gif

Mine requires hardly any cleaning. The rubber becomes smooth and attracts less dust. And can be removed easily with a single wipe. The inner casing is rubber, not silicone I think...

Sorry for hijacking on your reply  tongue.gif , but which would you think is better? CM9 or westcrip's ICS?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410400

For some weird reson, westcrip's one is not samsung skinned and looks a lot like CM9. He claims there are many fixes and improvements. Would you say it is better than CM9

Thanks
*
I never try westrips pics version is that is based from ics samsung rom

Just download those two from and flash it and feel which want u like. I never like samsung ics version because of touchwiz UI . I prefer vanilla look tongue.gif

I have installed 01122012 about two hours ago, i am impressed with this build.

After 3 weeks with a previous build, this one fells better, faster, smoother.

I use KL1 modem because it is the best one for my carrier's signal since Gingerbread, and have no motives to change it now that i am using CM9, it works like a charm.

For those willing to install this new build, don't forget to disable media scan and lock sounds to preserve your battery.

I am definitely keeping this one as my daily for a few weeks until a new build with significant changes is released.

anyone that want more battery life in your CM9 ROM pls disable media scan and untick lock sound in setting> sound rclxms.gif

That's it, you have poisoned me enough already  , downloading the CM9 now. The instructions you posted some pages back on how to flash is the same as the one in the CM9 thread?

How to disable media scanning? Is there an option which is not in Gingerbread?

just follow instruction that laptopguy posted and how to disable media scanning just download rescan media root on market biggrin.gif

Sorry for hijacking again, but I want to clarify something:
Copy GApps, GApps-Fixer, Faceunlock and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps, Faceunlock and GApps-Fixer ZIPs
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!

The steps make no mention of wiping the data. If I wipe data will the stuff on my internalSD be deleted?
*
if you on different rom better you wipe all before u flash CM9, that is to avoid conflict with previous rom, all your data in internel sd and externel sd will be ok, backup first all your apps by TB and restore back all it after that. biggrin.gif

Well, I dont see an emmc folder in either ES or Astro file manager. And mine can't play Youtube videos through the browser or through the youtube app. I really need this, so I might have to say goodbye to ICS until the HW codes are solved.  cry.gif

here the files directory for externel sd

mnt > emmc > your files

Hello to everyone.
I know that there are some similar threads in this forum, but no one is strictly related to the CM9 alpha IML74K.
I know as well that this could be part of the CM9 user discussion thread, but I'd like to share the best settings to get a good battery life with our S2 in a clean thread.
So, please:
no trolls, no dumb questions.
Just share your own experience (with a battery screenshot should be better).
Thanks a lot.

Here we go:

Developer options:
Debug usb off
Allow mock locations off
Force GPU rendering off
Windows animation scale off
Transition animation scale off
Don't keep activities on
Background process limit on
Kill app back button on

Display:
Automatic brightness off (I'm using Brightness Level widget)
Black wallpaper (search for solid black.png from wikipedia)
Sleep after 1 minute of inactivity.
Pulse notification light off.

Trebuchet options:
Scroll wallpaper off

Sync settings:
Google account
Sync calendar on
Sync Contacts on
Sync Gmail on
Whattsapp account:
Sync Contacts on

Sound Settings:
Touch sounds off
Screen lock sounds off
Vibrate on touch off

Location services:
Google's location service on
Location & Google search on
(Gps satellites on only when using Sygic or Maps)

Date and time:
Automatic date & time off
Automatic time zone off

CyanogenMod Settings app v1.0:
Interface Settings/Expanded view widget
Toggle 2G/3G checked
Toggle Mobile data checked
For a quick switch to 2G mode and save more battery.

Testing "twek levels and filtering" in automatic backlight settings.

With Titanium Backup:
Frozen all live wallpapers, tts services and uninstalled Gtalk and mail.
P.S. Be careful, you need debug usb on when using Titanium Backup

Data on all the day. I turn it off when I go to bed.
Wireless on when I'm home and need to use dropbox or download a big file from my Gmail account.

I'm using CM9 01062012 (I know, there's a new one, but I've reached a very stable daily rom, no FC, no random reboots, fast and smooth).
Modem XXKL1

Now my battery lasts two days.
Well, when my girlfriend tells me stories about her life, it lasts one day and a half.

Important:
I've uninstalled Facebook app which was causing a battery drain. I'm using the mobile web page instead and I've to tell that it is faster.

Other apps installed:
Twitter, Maps, Sygic, Whattsapp, Beatiful widgets (with manual weather update), Xda premium, ...

Anyone that use CM9 and complain have battery drain fast u can use this tip i get from xda forum, with this tips my battery drain only 20 - 30% for 12 hours and can last for 1 day smile.gif
