Hi fellas,
I went to Yishun yesterday to watch the HM game. I have to say I am quite impressed with the turnout, you can certainly feel the Malaysian support there. Most were students and workers, with quite a number traveling directly from Johor. Probably 150 of them all.
The HM were impressive in the first half. They lived up to their pass-and-move footballing philosophy, catching the TP players on the break several times. They controlled the midfield, and the wing play was well-executed.
One aspect of HM game play which I really took notice was the sheer pace of the players. I am not sure if the TP were lethargic, but HM players certainly made them look so with their speedy runs.
The second half was a more evenly-played game. The HM were not dominating as they were in the first, and probably due to their fast game, it seemed they are running out of gas and simply content to contain play. They are not making forays inwards and in fact, TP players managed to threatened on a number of occasions.
Overall, the chances created was fantastic, with some really great build up. But the finishing was lacking, with Thamil missing a sitter after side-stepping the keeper in the second half a prime offender. The goals, besides from the penalty, were mostly results of goalkeeping errors.
I probably will say the football is on par with another import team, Japanese team Albirex, who are known for the fast passing game. It will certainly be a show when these two teams meet. For the sake of Malaysians' fan, I hope the HM will find their killer touch when faced with the goal soon.

Some head up on S-League teams:
Albirex - Fast pass-and-move game with superior technique and fitness. Great cheerleaders.
Hougang - Good players on-field, better support off-field. Well-known for giant-killing
Woodlands - Surprise of the season, performing well despite finishing last
Brunei DPMM - Team with true grit, dark horse for the title
Balestier - Good team defensively, one to look out for
Home Utd - Traditionally a big club, watching out for Shota/Mendy combo
Tampines - Current champion, but hvn't gel yet with their new Eastern Europe imports
Gombak - Unknown due to half the team moving to Balestier
T Pagar - Whipping boys
SAFFC - Another big club, but not doing well yet
Geylang - The great wall defence, known for 1-0 win
Y Lions - hopeless, without a win
