Go and read this first... If you have any questions or scared about things, talk to the owners in this forum directly... Nobody knows a Proton Persona better than an owner itself! |

Then go and buy a Honda or Toyota lah... Honestly speaking, all car manufacturers these days, have their own quality defects / recalls.
Most important is you buy a car model where the engine is not problematic (minimal issues) and you're able to go to the service centers and claim warranty with ease & they're able to service your car and keep it in a reliable condition. |

I'd rather get a Saga FLX 1.6 or Persona High Spec than waiting for the new Proton platform, as the technologies for the above two cars are proven and tested on the roads, and many of the issues already ironed out.
If you get 1st batch of a new car model, there's going to be more issues to fix, as you're going to be the guinea pig testing out the car before the manufacturer addresses the problem by issuing recalls / face-lifts. |

Maybe it only applies for Inspira 1st batch because they imported from Japan, and rebadged locally, but for locally developed Proton models, buying later batches (even the last batch) would be a better option. You'll get all the kinks ironed out, special discounts & offers, as the dealer will be trying to clear stock.Added on January 5, 2012, 5:38 pm i think what you've uttered is pure nonsense....all batches has lemon...but buying 1st batch will always be guinea pig....with the new Proton Tuah...even worst....first time CFE+CVT+new car design....sure guinea pig with many issues (than say slapping an iAFM into a Campro on the Persona)....it's a given. I've driven a proton persona Manual version and its borrowed from proton COE. what i can tell you about the car is that it has smaller fuel tank. Power wise, need to drag till high rpm. all i can say, its a piece of shit. you will have lots of problems every where... just get a import car will do better

I guess there isn't more new persona elegance h-line on the market? In this case is it still worth to buy the standard version without many safety features like abs n EBD ?

To me,i think its better to go for the Preve Executive Manual..
Some might say that Preve without Turbo is kinda underpowered? But its still better than the standard version since the Preve still has the safety features in it? |

I didn't read all the replies because I am short on time.
Based on my experience, I have faced a few teething problems along the way. ECU let me down a few times when I first got the car. It took me a while to get it fix. There are other stuffs as well, i.e. electronics. Performance wise pretty good. Unfortunately, the teething problems overweigh the performance and comfort of the car. Just be prepared that's all. Despite all this, I still love my car. You know, it's like ups and downs in a relationship. It's the first batch,if anyone wants to know. Get lowest specs of almera or vios if you plan to splurge on persona. If not, perodua would be a better choice. This post has been edited by stu4rt: Jan 25 2013, 05:34 PM |
