Lol, and when is that coming out?
Very hard to find laptops in Australia, new to the market.

After checking out Acer m3, looks very promising.
Fits all the requirements demanded by my gf. haha

Yeah, I stumbled across LBO website, but after reading about acer m3. I think I'll opt out Clevo (warranty is another reason). Besides that, her budget is $1,000 max.

The M3, some reviews says it can get hot on the bottom though..
*
Not as hot as my Asus A42Jv yeah? Reach 98 celsius when playing Mass Effect 3 shocking.gif
Vacuumed the fan, have yet to replace thermal paste because I still got 3 month of global warranty left.

GF says:

I don't want a laptop that heats up like yours. Lousy.

hahah.

Thanks for telling me though lee, will read up more on Ivy Bridge and keep my eye on Clevo and Metabox laptops. And also GT640M and GT650M cards.

How odd... mine won't reach more than 80C  shocking.gif

M3's main weakness is the poor position of the power button and build quality.
Mm, that's odd.
I've seen quite a lot of temperature issues and complains for the A42Jv by other LYN forumers and I am one of them.
Did you change the thermal paste or changed any configuration?

Is there a difference between the GT 640M and the GT 640M LE in the Lenovo Y480?

Lookin at this laptop, thinking whether I should recommend my girlfriend to wait till June when the IB and maybe the GT 650M is out.

Will the price of laptops with GT 650M be a lot more expensive compared to laptops with GT 640M?

Does your gf need all of that GPU power? GT640M is more than enough for game like Diablo3, Dota 2 if u're playing @1366x768. ph34r.gif

Yeah I know it's overkill for D3. But she doesn't plan on changing laptops for a while after this, so I want to buy a laptop that will last for her.

Wanna ask, what's the diff between GT 650M 1GB GDDR5 memory and 2GB GDDR5 memory ?

It still does. Look at the tech spec pdf.
*
Oh, that's too bad. It would've been quite a good buy if it is GT 640M. It sucks I'm missing out on the HP Pavillion dv6t Quad Ed.

Researching a lot of laptops nowadays.
Most laptops around $1,000 has the same old spec. i5-2540M, GT 630M, or add another $100 for i7-3610QM..

LYN Sifus, you reckon I should wait a while more? Will more IB and GT 640M/650M laptops pop out in the market soon?

Definitely, if you can afford to. This is only the beginning of the Ivy Bridge refresh.
*
Well, as you know, my budget is $1k. If the prices of the refreshed IB goes beyond $1k, no point waiting then right? Even the Acer M3 is about.. $1.3k AUD if I'm not mistaken. Too expensive le unsure.gif
