About GT740M and GT750M.

I've been surveying online for a laptop that can play Diablo 3, Far Cry 3, PS2 emulator, PES 2014 and similar games.

According to notebookcheck, GT740M and GT750M can both play Diablo 3. Just wanna ask, any users of GT740M and GT750M here? If use GT740M with an i7 processor, can play Diablo 3 in ultra setting smoothly?

The price is so big difference. The cheapest laptop with i7 (real quad core) and GT740M is Lenovo Z510 while the cheapest laptop with i7 (real quad core) and GT750M iinm is Y410p.

correct me if I'm wrong. GK208 (384 shader, up to 980 MHz plus boost, 64 bit memory), this is the newer and better version right? hmm.gif

btw, how to check the 64/128 bit variant when purchasing the laptop? typing dxdiag in the windows search can get the info? hmm.gif

Read the notebookcheck article properly lah  doh.gif
According to that, the older GK107 GT740M is somehow spec with 128bit memory bus, and will perform better.
You need software like GPU-Z.

I've read, but it's a bit confusing. rclxub.gif

In addition to an older version with the GK107 chip (384 shader, 810 - 895 MHz, 128 bit memory), there also exist models with the new GK208 (384 shader, up to 980 MHz plus boost, 64 bit memory).

64 bit is newer, but it's performance is not as good as 128 bit variant. Which is confusing for me. Why Nvidia produce a 64 bit which is not as good performer compare to the 128 bit older variant? hmm.gif

Meaning that if I wanna buy a laptop with GT740M graphic card, I can't tell from the laptop or specs sheet right? need to install GPU-Z only can confirm right? hmm.gif

Interesting read!! icon_idea.gif

But the problem is the laptop must have GPU-Z preinstalled.... hmm.gif

haha. Yup. Coz I'm planning to get a new laptop maybe on April or May. As a moderate gamer, of coz I'll aim for the best graphic card possible for my budget (2.5k - 2.8k). So I've been reading about gt740 and gt750.

For this budget, I think max I can get is Nvidia GT750M iinm. targeting real quad core too, since dual core might bottleneck performance. hmm.gif

high 5! What I did was open the price catalogue thread.

Open the spoilers for the laptop size I want. Ctrl + F, then type gt740m and gt750m. I've been doing that for quite sometime now. sweat.gif
